This isn't right is it?

When the fire button is pressed, there be wee sparks twixt the firing contact and the 510 pin.
I've cleaned the contacts with Autosol, but to no avail.

Any advice or guidance?

Mine occasionally does the same, when it fires at all. I need to fiddle with it, but my Coppervape's behaving itself at the moment, so...

I don't know really what you are talking about ...but

what's the contact point like? (I'm presuming it's one of those bent bit of metal jobs) I was reading something a while back about a similar mod and people were saying if you can make the contact point bigger it's less prone to sparking ... like if you bend the metal flatter ... if you know what I mean?

The contact looks just like in the picture below.
I'll try flatten out the offending bit, when I get the patience to re-take it apart.

oh, ok ... it's not that 'edgey' then... it has a bit of a 'flat' to make contact.

make sure that the flat edge is hitting the 510 flat ... and not at an angle which reduces the contact point. ... that's all I have to suggest. :)

Try some fine grit sand paper and rub down the contact. I found with the frankie clone i have that when it had the original contacts in because they were just cheap silver plated stuff that as the silver coating started to flake there were sparks where the flaking was, rubbing it down with sand paper helped to reduce them but in the end i just replaced the contacts with copper strip.

Btw, i don't know whether your is an original or not, if it is it may just need smoothing out.

Electrical switches always spark when activated this is why your light switch in your house has a spring assisted close/open mechanism. But still don't turn on or off the light if you smell gas.

All the black you clean off the mech switches is the result of arcing. You cannot illiminate arcing on a hand push as it were just reduce it with cleaning and adjusting the fit.

So, do not vape if you smell an excellerant. I know this ain't much help.

What @simong said. With only a small area to contact, you'll get a spark. I ain't no scientitian so have no idea why, but the bigger the contact area the better. See if you can bend the contact a little so that it has a greater surface area coming into contact with the 510. That'll fix it mate.
