What's new

Bye bye, China

For instance the only patent granted for the game of Scrabble was for the shape of the scoring squares with the little triangular bits on the edges so that you don't have to lift a tile to see where the triple letter score is. (An obscure bit of knowledge I know lol, but my first study of patents, trademarks and copyright was in regards to Scrabble)

* Favourite new poster* :D

Highly automated factory? So in the future we will see their advertising mentioning the fact they produce in the USA. Jobs for american people and all that. While their factory employs all of 8 people. Hmmm.

Manufacturing costs are so much lower in China that it`s highly unlikely there will be any big shift in manufacturing back to the US.
It will simply push the cost up.

China remains the world capital for the production of consumer electronics mostly due to it being so much cheaper to have things made there.
There is no issue with the general quality of Chinese made goods overall, there is some tat produced there cheaply, as there is anywhere, but they are also more than capable of producing goods of as high a quality as anywhere in the world, it just depends how much the producer is willing to spend on manufacturing.

Apple are a good example here, top quality product, all made in China to a very high standard.
I can`t see Apple moving production back to the US anytime soon and the public don`t seem to have any issues with buying Chinese made iPhones in vast quantities.

There does seem to be a demand for the consumables e.g e_juice to be made outside of China and a greater trust of UK and US safety standards and quality with regards to it

The reasoning behind that, is because the e-juice is the only part of the e-cig, they stand any chance of controlling.
With the rest being just a battery, in a metal tube, with a heating coil on top. Not forgetting, you can make an e-cig out of a torch.

Oh I grant you the bureaucrats will try and control any aspect they can get their hands on, but I was actually talking about consumer demand.

Apologies.
I mis-understood the context of the post.
I'm not, the brightest bulb in the chandelier this time of night.
