Can I take off this contact screw?

The contact screw above is usually screwed on to the pin below coming out of the bottom of my RDA. I believe this is to firmly hold your batteries in place so it all connects. For some reason on the single battery version no matter how I adjust it I cant get it all snug together without it starting to fire my mod up because it pushes the pin out the bottom flattening the throw and completing the circuit.

Can I just use it without this screw? There's a tiny bit of battery rattle but it all works as usual without it.

Is that the reverse threaded contact from the Broadside? If so it's reverse-threaded and has caused confusion & consternation aplenty because of it. Daughter's boyfriend was distraught with his shiny new purchase for a while. Difficult days they were, for him

Yea I know its reverse threaded, it just wont fit my battery without pushing the bottom contact out

Oh well - just hoped there was an easy solution. But if there's a 'tiny bit of battery rattle without it there then there should be room for it.
If you take the button apart & remove the 3 pieces inside the o-ring you'll see an adjustment screw you could have a fiddle with.
Another issue is that as you screw the mech together it can mess with your adjustment of the top contact.

Is the bottom contact adjustable too ? This is the adjustment from the centre contact right, try adjusting the button at the bottom then re-fitting this part it as takes up some of the slack for battery rattle, broadsides are a similar set up

You should be able to run it with the nut attached, it can be wound up till the pin is flush with it, if needed. It sounds to me as if the bottom isn't sitting right under the button. If it sticks down too far it pushes the clutch out and causes an autofire.

Here's a simple test for you, take the top off the mod and remove the battery, then take the bottom collar and the clutch out, tighten the pin with your nail until it stops hard on the threading, if the pin keeps spinning freely, the delrin insulator needs replaced as the threading is shot.
