BMA in the pocket of the Big Pharma so spout out anything that they say, is true NOT

My Cardiologist was well pleased when I saw her last week, that I had finally managed to give up the stinkies.

The position that the BMA is taking on this is mind blowing. These people are supposed to represent health professionals, some kind of trade union i believe (someone will correct me if im wrong! hopefully lol).

I would be horrified if a doctor said "being helped to quit smoking by any means was a bad idea". It would lead me to believe that doctors actually need sick and unhealthy people to secure funding for their jobs or practices or hospitals.

there is a online poll over at myepack.co.uk that i have seen that will say 88% of people quit smoking because of ecigs. im sure other polls will have similar outcomes.

there must be huge pressure on medical opinion from somewhere to make the BMA rake this standpoint. more corruption from government and tobacco industry lobbyists i will assume.

I too have been mystified by the BMA's approach, but speaking to some friends in the pharmaceutical industry has shed some light on it.

Apparently, if the BMA approved vaping, shares in the pharmaceutical companies would nosedive to the point where they would go out of business. So, this isn't just about profits, but about the fact that there would be no-one to manufacture all the drugs our society needs.

I am a bit sceptical about this, and in a democratic capitalist society no-one should be protected from market forces, but it does explain the BMA's stance.

For some strange reason I had the notion that an institution named The British Medical Association would be medically ethical.
