In all honesty with a good quality charger it should be no more dangerous than having an immersion heater come on to warm your water. But none of us want to be the one who burns our house down with vape gear. As tubby said if you must. Use a fire bag on an old floor tile or something.

I always charge mine when I am about, although I imagine they are safe, not worth the risk.
