Hello all

I'm about to embark on some mixing (as soon as the stuff gets here). I'm quite a numerate sort of chap and have done plenty of practical chemistry (at school, university and work) and have no worries on that front. I'm planning a 20ml test run to concoct something for the Mrs and was hoping someone would tell me if I've got my maths right.

I want to use 15% flavouring so that's 15% of 20 ml = 3 ml

I want to make a 6mg/ml liquid from 72 mg/ml PG concentrate. So for 20ml, that would be (20 ml x 6 mg/ml) / (72 mg/ml) = 1.67 ml of nicotine base?

I want to use 70% VG so that would be 70% x (20ml - 3ml) = 11.9 ml VG

I'm not sure if the flavours I've ordered are VG or PG based so I can't factor that in until I know.

Soooo

3 ml of flavour + 1.67 ml of nicotine base + 11.9 ml of VG = 16.57 ml, meaning I need to add 3.43 ml of PG?

As 28% of the nicotine is PG then there is also 28% of 1.67 ml = 0.47 ml PG in there too. So the final ratio is:

VG = 11.9 ml
PG = 3.43 + 0.47 = 3.94
Total PG (Inc Nic base) + VG = 15.84 ml

So:
11.9 / 15.84 = 75% VG
3.43 / 15.84 = 25% PG

And the nicotine is: 1.67 ml x 72 mg /ml = 120 mg diluted in 20 ml = 6.012 mg/ml (6%)

Does this look right or am I waaaayyyy off?

Ta

Looks good to me, and the majority of Flavouring is PG based.

Unless you've searched for VG flavours.

90-95% of concentrates are PG

Based on 100% PG concentrates and 28% PG in your nicotine, this is what you need:

3ml concentrate
1.67ml nicotine
12.8ml VG
2.5ml PG

But don't be overly concerned about getting the VG/PG spot on, if it comes out at 72 or 68 you'll never know the difference.

Thanks guys. For ages I'd passed it of as some sort of dark art lol - if I'd have realised that there was very little voodoo involved I'd have been at it ages ago.

All I need to do now is spend ages coming up with a "sort of nutty, caramelly, slightly chocolate / coffee ish but not too sweet" concoction the Mrs will like .... I may be some time!

Makes it all very, very simple.

You might try this mix, it would need one or two weeks to fully mature:-

5% Flavourart Espresso Nutzilla
2% Inawera Milk or Dark Chocolate
8% Flavourart Caramel
TPA Sweetener to taste (start with 1 drop per 10ml and increase as required)

I've made 30 ml but substituted the chocolate for bittersweet chocolate and put 2 drops of ethyl maltol in. It's labelled "Scrumpox". Ta.
