View attachment 18488He appears to be maintaining that the TPD is the best we will get. Capitulation in my view.

He suggests that those who use more than 20mgs can go down the pharmaceutical route?

So heavy smokers who need stronger eliquids will have to buy a medifag? Mad

I wonder if you'll be able to get ego starter kits on prescription? Some pharmacys are selling them with ce4 clearomizers.

My local pharmacy sells Vype disposables. But you have to pick up a card and take it to the counter where a 'professional' will guide you on the full range of NRT as ecigs have not been licensed and other options are preferable.

I've just gotta test this one out. Getting the literature ready as I type.

I just can't get my head around why governments feel the need to control anything that people enjoy putting in their bodies, unless it strikes well with the politicians themselves :S

It feels like it's a case of "oh look these people do this for fun but at a possible expense, we don't wanna take that risk ourselves, but because it looks fun so that means we don't want anyone else to have things that we cant enjoy as well."

Or in other words, Puritanism. The fear that somebody, somewhere is enjoying themselves

Is this just regarding those cigalikes? They are limited to 20mg?

Whatever his brand of politics he has been on our side for a long time in fairness. He genuinely believes however that this is the best deal we will get and doesn't understand the effect these measures will have.

The proposed EU law bans all liquids above 20mg across the board from retail sale.

While it's likely that in due course some technical wiz will work out a way to increase nicotine delivery so that a 18mg liquid hits like a 36mg liquid it's still shite for the small % of people that much prefer the high strength stuff and may well end up back on tobacco without it.

Stupid arbitrary rule is stupid and arbitrary.

It's also likely that you won't see 20mg juice at all. In the same way that the legal limit on nicotine concentration is 75mg/ml (7.5%) and beyond that you need a poisons license from the Home Office, the max you can get normally is 72mg/ml (7.2%) to cover the suppliers arse if his calculations are slightly out.

The max sold from the majority of places will end up being about 18mg/ml most likely.

It's better than the 4mg/ml initial proposed level, but it's still a terrible compromise and will have many unintended consequences.

e.g. the idea behind the law is that if a toddler drinks out of a bottle of high strength e-liquid they are going to die. No ifs no buts, dead. Noone anywhere wants that to happen. But in all of e-cigs being available one toddler has died because of this. while tragic it's worth noting than in the US between 1996 and 2007 5 people (one child) died from ingesting cigarette butts. Lots of other children have died in the same time period from ingesting other toxic household chemicals.

So where are the unintended consequences? Well if you are made to cut down on your nicotine strength and you stick with vaping, now you're going to be using more juice. So you have more bottles available for your toddler to drink from which increases the chance of something bad happening. (to say nothing of the choking hazard presented by a bottle lid) 18mg is just as deadly to a 2yr old as 36mg if they drink 1ml of the stuff.

The whole things a badly messed up piece of legislation and it needs removing and starting over.
