Hi all,

Received a cobra rebuildable atomizer in the post today to fit on my provari, but I think I must of built it wrong or something?, I oxidised the mesh and have a nice snug fit with little bit of play as it fits in the hole, I wrapped the coil around it 3 and a half times and all looks OK.
When I check the ohms I'm getting 1.6.
When I fire it up to test of all the coils are lighting up the last coil before i wrap it around the post seems to light abit quicker then the other 3 and I'm getting alot of vapour coming off it, however when I put the top on and draw it' its really tight to draw, and I'm hardly getting any vapor! I tryed changing the voltage up and down but no change and the little bit of vapor that I am getting has started to taste abit burnt....

Also the last time I tested the coils the last coil heated up so much quicker it made a small flame! Had to blow it out!!

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

The air hole for the cobra is a really tight one at only 1mm. If you are handy you can bore it out to 1.5 or 2mm that should sort it out.

Also, try it on a mechanical non VV mod, with a slightly discharged battery.

Loads of posts on these problems and vids on how to get things right - I would read around the forum and use the search facility.

todd did a Drill bit coil method which I can confirm worked perfect with the Cobra. Make sure your wick is really really oxidised as well

you have a hot spot as well mate on the top coil if the top coil heats quicker, I gave up with the cobra. use a needle to move the coils about. 1.6 - 1.8 ohms is fine and it will be with a 3-4 wrap. more vape up you voltage helps but might take away from your sweet spot on your provari. also what pg/vg mix ae you using a lot of reviwers use mainly pg whaich creates more vape (correct me if im wrong guys). are you lining the air hole up direct with the wick as well. a burnt taste also indicates a hot spot.

I tryed to move the coils about a little and that stopped the top coil heating up so quickly but then it started to burn faster again.. I don't really wana drill anything out just yet as I don't wanna mash it up! Lol, its the air hole the small one on the side of the top part?.. Also would it be possible to take the wick out and oxidise it again? Or would it be better to make another one?.. Does the coils around the wick need to be tight around it as well or kinda loose?

Sorry for all the questions guys I thought I done everything right and have a feeling its just something silly that can easily be put right but its so frustrating! Lol

You can take it out to oxidise again, but you will get flames as it has juice on it.

Todds vid shows how to wick & coil and there have been others like the Igetcha one using fag papers. Shortening the top wire can help reduce problems, but if it is glowing hotter first, this indicates that either your coils are touching or that you haven't enough carbon either on the ss wick or behind the coils. The coils need to be in contact with the wick at all times but no tighter than this.
