Hello all

New to building, can someone tell me why prebuilt 0.4 alien coils are showing as 0.14 in a dual build. I would’ve expected it to be halved (0.2) . I have tried it on several mods and they all show the same

HI @Weediv , single 0.4 ohm coils when built on a deck in dual configuration should read approx half (0.2ohm). Have you tried checking the coils seperatley? There will be slight tolerances in the coils and in the mod readings.
 
.4 is dependant on leg length as well and I'm guessing you don't have long legs to your coils so you will have taken a small amount away from the .4 nothing to worry about

I see, yeah the legs were cut to 4.5mm so that might explain that, thanks
 
Thanks for that, could I add a wrap with the excess leg to maintain the resistance ?
I really would not bother. You could introduce hot spots on the coil while trying to achieve a nice turn and as they are not far from the expected 0.2, does it matter.

Ok I’ll leave it as is, I’m using the drop on a single 18650 battery semi regulated mod so I was just wondering if higher resistance would help battery life, probably not...

The variation of resistance would slightly increase battery drain on a mech mod but would make no difference on a regulated mod.
