I have invested in many many decent hand built ready to fit coils. How do you guys get them to fit so well? I get close but never seem to get it quite right and they look great but as I tighten the coils move and lose some of their shape. I tried tightening slowly. I've tried to put a little bend in the legs (how you guys do this is a mystery to me you do it so beautifully) any help would be great. I'm fine with other aspects have a decent firing ohms meter but I spend hours and never seem so get it right. Normal kantal seems easier it's just claptons I mostly struggle with.
I forgot to say. Mostly using a velocity deck. I find the goblin mini a breeze.
Thanks for any tips.

They do tend to separate/deform a bit during fitting, unless the legs line up with the post holes naturally, or by bending the legs to shape. You have to heat them and pinch them with pliers until they sit like you want them to.

Try keeping the screwdriver/jig post inside the coil while tightening the screws. It should reduce the deformation a bit, but you'll still need to give em a tweak with the tweezers.

Thank you. I just see in lots of photos people have little bends in the coils so they line up perfectly and wondered how they achieved this.

Needle nosed pliers usually. I usually use fit them, then bend the legs with a flat edge.

I use a screwdriver with the same internal diameter as the coil to keep it in place, whilst pushing the leg to make a nice bend with a larger flat-head screwdriver.

Not easy but a few hours practice with cheap wire helps!

Practice, practice, swear a lot, have a stash of 0.5mm wire to practice with, swear a bit more and eventually - 'Tah Dah'.

You have to be careful with claptoned wire, especially if the outer is really fine gauge. Don't use anything too sharp, or you risk breaking it.

I always bend the legs to fit. I use my ceramic tweezers to bend them in to position. This definitely minimises distortion of the coil when screwing

I'm always concerned about touching the posts on a velocity style deck but I was watching a guide on the limitless and they guy put his snug against the posts. Doesn't this create a short?
