Hey folks

I am currently considering purchasing the bf mod and pulse by vandy vape, for £55 brand new it looks a good deal. I've seen a review that was raving about flavour etc...

I've ordered some pre made coils from China £3.09 for the set, which is also a bargain (trend happening here).

I'm going to get the coil master kit v3 and some wire. Now I'm not doing all of this until I've offloaded some of my other vape stuff and I've properly looked into mech mods. I've always been on regulated mods, aspire speeder and ipv3li, but after using my rashomon rda I love the flavours.

So essentially I'm creating this thread to get advice and have a chat about making coils and I suppose safety, I mean I'm no dumbass, and I'll not be wanting anything lower than 0.2 ohms total for dual builds, I've at least read up on this so far. This will be my go to thread for about the next month, I have a one year old, work and football to keep me busy so if I am late in joining the party again, fear not I will be returning to read and reply with lots of questions. Soooooo go!

Best wire for building coils for the pulse 24? Please and thanks I like flavour more than clouds as well.

Sorry for the long winded post btw

Im running pulse bf + pulse 24 with 24gauge flat brochrome, 6 wraps, 3mm x2 coils, 0.16 vaping like a champ, will be swapping to SS316l claptons shortly as a bit of a change. Its performing awesome!

The Pulse 24 is an excellent RDA, and build wise, it's a matter of finding your way by experimenting.

The only thing I would recommend is using SS coils, as, for me, these give a smoother vape, but they will need to be quite big in dual mode to keep the resistance up. Pre-made Wotofo's from FT are very good.

Personally I find NI80 fused claptons etc much much better than SS on a mech. I hate the severe power drop off I get with ss as the resistance rises the inevitable sag from a single cell at low resistance is bad enough without adding another way to sap the power output.

SS is great on regulated as the mod compensates for the rising resistance so you get the nice clean fast rap of ss without the severe voltage loss.

Absolutely right. I've put my Ram in the classifieds because I can't use it with SS and then I go and recommend it to someone else! :17:

I need a holiday.

When you mention the different types of wire that's where I start to get confused, what's the difference with 24 gauge compared to the rest? Is this wire thickness? Is higher gauge better or worse, I always assumed Claptons or thought that they were two types of wire combined? Am I wrong? What is ss316l?

I know I could google, but that's why I created this thread as a reference point and to get the view point of the experienced gapers.

Can you buy ss wire I take it then? I'm looking to start or get into coil building myself.

Do you buy pre made coils mate? Or build NI80? This is where I'm stuck at the moment, is ni80 just a type of wire?

So an update on the purchase front, I managed to get the pulse 24 rad, pulse bf mod and goon 1.5 rad for £60. That should be here by Saturday morning, I'll be waiting on coils a while yet.

I'm going to get the coil master kit v3 this weekend, I'm offloading juice to a friend to fund.

So looks like I'll be just needing wire as I just bought cotton bacon...where to start lol

Whilst I'm not an experienced 'gaper' (not really my thing) :D

Awg is American wire guage and is indeed a measurement of how thick the wire is.

A Clapton is like a guitar string it's a thicker wire or wires wrapped in a thinner one like a heat sink.

316SS is stainless steel wire as oppose to kanthal or Nichrome , it heats up really fast due to its low density (and resistance) and gains resistance as it heats up. Therefore on a mech it loses power the longer you hold the button.

I'd start out with some 24 awg Kanthal or Nichrome while you learn it's a good all round wire for building mechs :)
