Morning apes. Just wondering what csv file you guys are using with the Crown SS coils. Tried one this morning with the 304SS setting, but not convinced. Definitely not as accurate as other wires that i've used so far.

SS has poor accuracy, it's a consequence of the material (see this thread)

What's the resistance? An SS coil under 0.5 Ohm will probably be rocky in TC.
They are the 0.5ohm stock coils from unwell. The DNA read it at 0.525. They vape quite nicely considering how it looks in the pic. Just unsure if I'm using the correct TCR. I had read somewhere that the coils are 316SS, but I also believe unwell are using non-resistance wire in there coils also. Will rip an old one apart to check.

Yep. Definitely got the tell tail weld joins either end of the SS. I assume it's ni200, but it's hard to tell. Suppose it could be throwing the reading off a bit.

For reference, that will be about as accurate as a 0.07 Ohm Ni200 coil - ie probably not very, the noisy signal doesn't surprise me.

The noisy signal in the graph is due to the low sensitivity of a 0.5 Ohm SS coil - adjusting the TCR won't help that. If you want a smoother signal, increase the resistance (or use a different material).

I normally only build with NiFe 30 atm. I will probably stick with that. I was just experimenting with SS. Maybe I'll buy a spool, see how that goes. Thank for the heads up.

my local vape shop told me not to use my DNA200 mod (VTBox200) with Uwell 0.5 or 0.3 Stainless coils.

Now i am confused. Any help would be much appreciated.

Do i need to set up some sort of profile for them?? or is normal Kanthal mode ok?

Thanks

I would think they ment not to use them with the default TC setting, as out of the box, DNA 200 devices are set up to support ni200. In wattage mode you can vape on them till the cow's come home. I do have another CSV file to try with a modified TFR curve, plus a few more things to tweak with regards to the Crown coils.

Ok, so I tried a couple of different TFR profiles this morning created specifically for the Crown coils. I was also advised by someone over on the evolv forum to deactivate preheat, and punch. These settings do seem to work better, and the signal does seem to flatten out at higher temperatures, which is ok with me.
