Dam blast and botheration

Yes filter input if you are using an ac sourced psu
But as far as I am aware you don't get rectification or any ripple from a battery

Not even ripple from the charger, it connects to a 12V lead acid battery(leisure battery in man-cave)

Really? You want to build this and you are not sure what a fuse does?

I'm choosing to believe you've just made a minor mistake - the two fuses are to prevent the Raptor from being destroyed by an overcurrent event such as a hard short on the Atty. The Raptor board itself can only handle 20A, it says so right there in the title...

The atty is highly unlikely to present an issue, on my present boxes when there's a hard short(melted insulator on centre pin)the result has always been a blown mosfet, I think the mosfet will still go pop before the Raptor.

If the manufacturer's datasheet specifies this:
"An input capacitance must be placed directly adjacent to the input pin of the module, to minimize input ripple voltage and ensure module stability."

And you all decide not to bother with a 50p component then on your head be it
:woot:

Again, why would you take the risk?

Its on your head again but why take a risk with high performance batteries and *hoping* that a FET will blow before your LiPo starts spitting at you. Or toasting your circuit board and regulator.

You don't know what the fuck is going on inside your sealed box.

For reference, I have personally witnessed overcharged NiCad's exploding, and a LiPo physically blowing an RC helicopter out of the sky.

Here's the datasheet for those who are interested.

As for fused then I'd definitely use them
The resettable type are good insurance against shit happening

Postie just delivered my 1st order, 10 zeners.

The way I see it, the raptor isn't likely to be the 1st component destroyed if shit goes tits up.

To appease the posters in this thread though, I've been googling and will buy some resettable fuses by the time I start the build.

Postie just brought all of my stuff too. How the hell am I going to fit this lot into a 1590g. Its going to be very tight.

Wish me luck. I'm going to need it!

Mamu used 20awg wire for the output. Is that man enough? I have also just realised that I haven't ordered a p fet. Its not listed on the build page ;-)
Can anyone give me an idea of which fet I need?
