DCT vs Protanks - is it just me?

Hi,

I have not been vaping long but in a short space of time ordered a lot of stuff trying to find my ultimate set up.

i am using a smok SID and have tried various clearomisers such as kanger MT3 , Evod which I found quite good.

I wanted to upgrade so I then bought 2 protank 3's and the new kanger aerotank but have found them really disappointing !!

i have found smoktech DCT which I have to say beats them all and now do not think I can find anything better or to compare - so smooth, loads of plume and never a gurgle to speak of . Weird as I like this tank so much yet does not seem so popular from what I can see online

Sooo is it just me? Am I crazy? I see so much on the internet about kanger tanks - is there a special knack to these? Such a shame as I think they are such nice looking tanks

any advice much appreciated!!

I always found that flavour was a bit muted with carto tanks but I'd agree, they're certainly fuss free once you get them filled.

I still use, and love the good old stalwart, punched carto in a tank, for it's reliability and lack of faff. I must admit though, that a protank II or the similar Davide, will produce superior flavour and vapour when everything is in balance. By that I mean that a carto in a tank virtually eliminates user variables, ie the suck to vapourise ratio, which is the mainstay of a decent vape. The protank style tanks, by design, rely immensely on a balance between the vacuum created by and during sucking, and the amount of 'coil juice' evaperated' during the push the button and inhale process. More burn than suck, you get dry hits, more suck than burn and the gurgle monster wins. Consistent power from the battery helps with this so protank type devices suit regulated batteries. Get all of the variables in balance and all is good.

Thanks for replies guys,

so I guess that Protanks are more hit or miss or at least you have to know what you are doing - which I don't!

i did notice a punch when it came to flavour with the Protanks though I think I am odd in that I probably prefer less flavour - have bought about 50 liquids since christmas and the only ones I can get on with are from US company that are 100% VG - which I'm guessing is because vg is known to have less of a hit

ah well think i will be sticking to my dct and vg liquids for now!

It's worth noting that it's not always the tank completely at fault, it's what you put it on too. I have various mechanical mods & they fire differently with the same atty. Good connectivity & minimal voltage drop will kick better.
As for kanger tanks, i see a lot of a fan base but i never really got very good results with the ones i used, namely evods, protank 2 & protank 2 mini. After those i drew a line under kanger tanks. To each their own though & perhaps some vapers love their kanger vape.

I too, am a big fan of carto-tanks (although I also use clearomisers)

They do seem to be out of fashion lately, I think this may be down to the initial fill routine of the carto (I find a needle-tip bottle is essential for this). I think most people just want to fill and go like with a clearo.

Cloud9vaping have Smoktech DCTs in their clearance section at an absolute steal at £3.99.

http://www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/epages/yxve46fvrnud.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/yxve46fvrnud/Products/DCTMET-3/SubProducts/DCTMET-3-

The fact they are in their clearance probably means they are unloading them, never to stock again.

I wonder if other vendors will follow?
