Dead rabbit rta mtl 2 first build

I decided to rebuild this tank from the first time I put it together with the coil provided with it.
I got some mtl wire (30 x2, 38ga ni80) to try and here's how I got on.....

First problem was getting the deck off by lining the two dots up on the side of the tank, I couldn't get the bottom ring to turn for me and ended up having to undo the glass and get a hold of the chimney and finally I got the deck off.

I built a 2.5 id 8 wrap coil and put it on the deck, it came in at 0.4 ohms where I was hoping for 0.6-0.8 ohms. I did what I thought was a gentle heat up at
15w and immediately one of the legs burnt out.

I have given up for now and put the original coil back in, can anybody recommend some pre-built mtl coils I can try as I don't think the wire I have is suitable?

I didn't have that problem getting the deck off, did you lube all the o-rings, maybe it was that. I'm not familiar with that wire and I only used the supplied coil ( NI80 clapton) with an extra wrap so it was around 0.9ohm iirc and had no problems with it.

As for pre-made coils what sort of ohms are you looking for?

Interesting, I'm watching your progress with this MTL, thanks for the update.

The good news was that the supplied coil was still in perfect condition after a week of use and went back in to the deck with no issues

Glad to hear that. Naturevape do a range of pre-made NI80, SS and Kanthal mtl coils that may be of interest.

It's common for a coil to read low before glowing. For a MTL coil use lower wattage to glow, you can get hotspots where the leg is bent they go away, With a fused Clapton or alien glow with lower wattage and strum it when not holding the fire button till all hotspots are gone.

Yeah I think that I'm too used to bigger dtl coils and need to be more gentle with lighter mtl coils. I'm back on the original coil now so I'll try again in a few weeks
