Crème de Vape formerly Cloud 9 Vaping

You are receiving this email because you have ordered from or registered with Crème de Vape or Cloud9Vaping in the past, and we want to notify you about important changes to vaping, and to our processes as a result of these changes.

This is a one-time-only email, as a result of a change in the law. If it's not of interest to you, or you no longer shop with us, please delete this mail, you will not receive any further emails from us unless you have subscribed to any of our newsletters.

On 1st October 2015, it became a criminal offence to supply nicotine containing e-cigs to persons under the age of 18.
We've always taken a firm position in this regard, however, as a result of this new and welcomed legislation, we have implemented further steps to ensure sales to minors are prevented.

In formulating our position, we decided against automated age verification during checkout for several reasons:

  • Automated age verification can cause frustrating delays and failures during checkout.
  • There is a cost of up to £1.50 per check, which would be passed onto the customer.
  • The check would be performed, and thus the cost would be incurred on every order, regardless of whether or not the order featured any nicotine containing products or if your age had already been verified previously.
  • Occasional "one time only" ID checks leave an invisible "footprint" on your credit file, whereas repeated automated checks have the potential to affect your credit rating negatively.

To avoid these potential pitfalls, we perform age verification manually and securely at no extra cost to you. However, to retain a log of your age verified status, you will now be required to register and log on to a customer account to shop with us (if you haven't already done so).

We are aware it may not be as convenient as before if you've not been used to using a registered account, but we feel there's no other way to both comply with the law, and minimise the potential harm that could be caused by running repeated ID checks, or inconveniencing you by asking you to produce your ID every time you order. Performing these checks one time only, and logging them against your registered account is the most effective and simple solution to comply with this new legislation.

When you place an order, and we have been unable to obtain age verification using ID check software, you will receive an email requesting proof of your age, such as a scan or clear photo of your driving licence, passport, or birth certificate. Once your ID has been received and validated, your account will be updated to show that you've verified your age, and you will not be asked again.

You'll need to use your same customer account every time you order, to avoid being asked to provide your proof of age repeatedly.

If you already have a customer account you've not used for some time, we advise you logon and update the details, including your date of birth, to avoid delays when you next check out. If you've forgotten your password, please use "forgot password" link on the site, or
contact us with your email address or customer number to request a new password.

If you'd like to submit your proof of age in advance of it being requested, to ensure you never experience a delay to a future order, please email it to us along with a note of your customer number and the email address you registered with.

we will sadly be seeing a lot more of this.

emails are not 100% secure so i certainly would NOT send picture copy of driving licence and defo not passport to anyone. if it means me losing out on juice and them losing out on a sale then so be it.

Yes...I got this email. What will I do....nothing! It is total bullshit! The law also applies to selling knives, lighter fluid, rubbing alcohol plus many other products. This isn't a spreading trend but is just cloud 9 safe guarding their arse....It is not law....they must take reasonable care. So... am I wrong, but dont you need to be over 18 for a credit card or a Paypal account?? So from now on, cloud 9...or creme del la suck my nuts....unless I cant get my goods elsewhere...are we going to trade???? I am not going to support data swarming more than I have to!!!!!

But seriously, you vendors...get at a grip! FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the email today, I've been buying from them since 2012 so maybe it's not an issue. I'm listed as Default Customer Group and just had to add my date of birth under manage personal data.

If I have to supply ID at creme de cloud 9 or anywhere else I think a scanned and censored version of my paper driving licence would do it. I'm one of those rare folks who doesn't actually have a photo ID drivers licence, I'm holding off as long as possible.

Yeah all I did was log into my account and add my date of birth. That's as far as i'll go with it though. Sending scans of anything, to anyone, isn't going to happen.
