Distinct lack of sub ohm tanks

Hello all, long time no see. I'm just curious if anyone on here with inside industry knowledge has any idea what has happend to all the sub ohm tanks that used to be available. I am searching for a replacement for my valyrian 2 Pro and have had to settle for an itank 2, which might I say is bloody awful. Unfortunately every tank I'm interested in seems to have been discontinued according to stockists yet the manufacturers still have them on their websites. Anyone any ideas what's happening? I know there is a massive upsurge in pod systems but pods just don't cut it I'm afraid. Cheers all. Peace ✌️

Welcome back!

The iTank itself is a bit basic the but 0.2 GTI coils are fantastic. I don't use mine much as I prefer mesh RTAs but the the GTI coils are top notch when it comes to flavour.

Anyway, I think you answered your own question... the upsurge in pods, disposables and more recently boros/AIOs. Things tend to move in trends as new bandwagons roll into town.

HorizonTech and Freemax are still pumping out new sub ohm tanks though, and coils are still available for all the tried and tested classics.

Like I said, the manufacturers still have all the lovely sub ohm tanks on their websites however, in the uk at least, virtually all of the stockists are saying discontinued on their pages and when I've tried ordering from the suppliers that claim to have them in stock I get a phone call or email within 24hrs offering me a pod system of equivalent value or a full refund. I'm a former roll up smoker and unfortunately only a decent sub ohm tank gives the nicotine hit required. And yes, I have looked at the freemax fireluke 4 and surprise surprise the retailers are saying discontinued! I get that pods are the new thing and I get that they are much more efficient with salts but even with a 20mg salt in the tank, which is the highest strength we can buy in the UK, I still find myself going back to the cigs! Also, not a fan of the gti coils, they are far too open, I don't like closing air vents on tanks as wicks dry out quicker due to lack of airflow and burn out a hell of a lot quicker so I want something with a dual mesh because they have a perfect draw resistance. Peace ✌️

It's not just sub-ohm tanks, there's a distinct lack of any tanks full stop, at the mo it's all pods and AIOs.

Just be sure to avoid DJVape and Ecigwarehouse.

Otherwise have you thought about trying your hand at a single coil RTA, dual coil RTA, even mesh RTA?

Still plenty of those available, and you can buy pre-made coils (or mesh strips) so no need to wrap your own.

There's obviously a learning curve but it's much easier to tailor your vape to your needs and it works out much cheaper in the long run vs buying packs of stock coils.

My mainstays are two Profile Unity Mesh RTAs. I do dabble with other things but they're basically what keep me a happy vaper and the are benchmark against which I judge everything else.

I had thought about going down the rta route but I'm not sure how well they would stand up to my chosen career as a welder without leaking in my back pocket!

Thanks to TPD and 2ml max tank size quite a lot cant be assed to alter 5ml or 8ml tanks to have a bung in them to make them 2ml so easier to discontinue in the UK but still sell in other countries.

As JohnNada mentioned, maybe buy direct from China. post 5 here POTV Vendors & Recommended E Liquid Suppliers

They are no better or worse than stock coil tanks when it comes to leaking, but you lose the convenience of just swapping out a coil in less than a minute. Rebuilding can take time - trying to do it at work, particularly in your situation, probably isn't realistic.

I generally carry a small back up vape with me when I'm out for the day, but only needed it once when I accidentally pocket adjusted the wattage on my main vape and burnt out the cotton.

Oh yes, but these ones have a funny habit of pretending that they do have something in stock, and while you're placing the order, they actually are starting to look on alibaba and other places. This happened with my order: after keeping my money for a week, when I've asked: where is the item you shall dispatch next day, they replied: due to unforeseen demand (I believe: 1 piece ordered by me) we have had to cancel your order.
Effectively, they do take loans from the customers and then, having the money in their pockets, they start looking if someone does have it for sale cheaper. If yes - you have the chance that the goods will be delivered. If not - no chances but they will keep silent until you'd complain.
