Here is an example of a very quick and dirty way to make a spring loaded positive pin.

Reason for this, after messing about with a flat Chi You top cap I wore out the threads in the plastic insulator.

After the 5th time the center pin popped inside my box mod i got fed up.

If you suffer from a similar problem, heres a solution :-)

Take a block of wood, a pop rivet, a spring and away you go. Will make it sturdier and add support, but works splendidly so far.

Good solution. How long did it take to wear out the threads in the insulator? I'm looking at using those top caps myself.

Mostly ruined it because i screwed down my atomisers too hard, eventually it gave up and went POP. If you do it just right you can get it do give up first time you use it.

The thing is, in a box mod the center pin isn't supported by the battery from underneath, so its much easier to push it in and shred the threads.

Amazing top cap if you have a chi you, made the Chi my fave (before this DNA30). First time I could get a perfect fit with a kick, just remove the adjusting screw and tadaa, flush.

It's the brass ones I'm planning on using as they're easier to solder. I'll look into a way of supporting the centre pin. It's a useful heads up you've given anyway :).

I gave up on soldering in the end, impossible. Used a dremel and a diamond grinder tip to make a 5mm deep hole for the negative, put a large blob of solder on the negative lead and hammered it into the hole .

Hope you have better luck with the brass one, alot of mass, really hard to get solder to stick.

Haha, thats the bit that was missing, had the blowtorch but didn't have the frying pan, damn i knew i missed something.

Nice. I'm gonna try to remember that trick. Could come in real handy for diy connectors.
