DNA 75 draining battery to 3.1V - is that bad?

i noticed my new SMY SDNA75 is draining my battery down to 3.1V.

1) is this bad for the battery - I seem to recall anything below 3.2V is bad for them
2) any ideas if there's a way to prevent this?

I know there's a 'soft cut-off setting' but this came set at 2.75V and so is a totally seperate thing; when firing the battery charge / voltage will take a dip so setting this at 3.2 will prevent it being used before it gets near there (not worded well and so I hope you know what I mean)

thanks apes :)

Is it a lipo? If that's the case then most mods come with a soft cutoff of 3.09v, although I've got to be honest I don't let mine get down to 0% before I charge.

Some lipo DNA's come with a 3.6v cutoff which is verging on the ridiculous. Popular opinion is that 3.2 is the best level to get the best from the battery and give the user the best battery life.

If you've got it set to 3.2v you're fine.

Ok- it's a single 18650 as I've just read. 3.0v is your floor, below that the cell will degrade very heavily.

Can be changed in escribe

the soft cut off can be changed - but not a separate 'battery level' cut off

even a battery at about 3.5 can dip below 3.1 briefly when firing. so, setting soft cut off will prevent it it working quite a bit before that, won't it?
I honestly don't know - just playing devil's avocate
and @SirLugg - no. it's running a single 18650

This is one of the ones that was 'tuned' by DJLsb. makes me wonder why they set it to 2.75 if it will kill batteries?

If you're using protected cells I believe their hard cutoff is 2.8v....I think....
@Tubbyengineer @Ben fogstar @Huggett ?

Ermmmmm

Dunno.
Samsung 30Qs.

Are they protected?

No it's an INR cell which is a nickel / magnalise chemistry. Best of both worlds for mah and amp drain. But it's not protected from what I can see.

Your mod is though. What's your cutoff set to? I understand what you mean with the battery sag when it's under load but this is very minimal with the efficiency of the DNA chips.

The mod came with soft cut off set at 2.75 which just seemed way too low; Even taking into account the 2.8v bit on your next thread (which to me said taking them to 2.8 really shafts them and fast).

I'd already upped the cut off to 3.1
Next time it gets to about 5% I'll connect up to escribe and see what voltage they're showing.
I'll also set it to show "battery pack" so i can get a rough reading on the mod

Thanks for all this, you're a gent [emoji106]

No probs buddy [emoji4]

I've only got lipo DNA200's and I can check the cell voltage in two ways:
1) I've got it set so that when I charge them via usb it displays the cell voltage whilst charging. I set this up on the screen section of escribe.

2) Connect the device and do the cell monitoring on escribe and it should tell you what voltage the cell is at.

Are you using an external charger or charging in the mod? Not that it really matters but if it were me I'd set the cutoff to 3.2 and still change out/charge when it gets to 10% ish.
