Thicker NiFe30 means you'll struggle to get a working resistance. Seriously it's a good attempt for first time. The more you do the more consistent you'll be & the more confident you'll become. Trust me, I've done coils that look like Stevie Wonder made them while drunk & they've worked .
That SS coil looks better, SS is a bit firmer to work with so you could run with that for a while to get the confidence up.

if I had been awake & the very first reply should have to been if those coils look OK.....

Instead of mentioning about the lighting & a bit of waffle
damn it - think my sarcastic wit really let me down there

reckon you've nigh on sussed out the gist of it or learnt how easy it is to tidy it up
(or fuck it just make another & try again until you are content with it all)
