Dulce de leche alternative

I'm all out of dulce de leche and I usually add this to a custard mix, has anyone got any alternatives I can use, I have got some brown sugar so I thought about this but not sure?

Well the real (not ejuice) DDL is milk and sugar cooked for a long time to make a thick caramel.
so i suppose you could use caramel and condensed milk or maybe caramel and some bavarian cream.

Malted Milk is another I've heard of being used.

How about hazelnut, toffee, banana, coffee, rhubarb, or any fruit you like.
