Ecigs debate on the wright stuff in a minute

Half way in, the subject is that in light of the recent study should ecigs be provided free by the nhs. One panelist is pro, one is pretty anti and one is pretty vacant! The general feeling so far is pro vaping but after the break the phone lines open :)

Daytime TV makes me glad I go to work. I would rather look at the sun through binoculars than watch the likes of Wright, even if vaping is getting a good press.

Ecigs have been covered on the WS for a while now though Wrights attitude continues to be that ecigs just maintain the addiction. It doesn't help that his vaping friends all smoke as well. The other big elephant in the room is that whilst Wests's report is to be welcomed, the survey mainly consisted of generation 1 devices. Think how more positive the results would have been in terms of smoking cessation successes if they had used gen 2 and 3 users

I don't work,& also avoid daytime TV like I would a plague of rats.

While being in danger of getting flamed here,
I was under the impression that West's report in this article. Was from the study done at UCL (shoot me down if I'm wrong).
If it is from that study, see here, http://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/f...807-e-cigarette-safety-study-help-needed.html

The follow up from the survey was a visit to UCL, to take part in the study. Of which those of us that could, did.
The study involved, a more detailed survey, urine sample, breathe analyses, and two different types of saliva samples. It was also requested that you take your weapon of choice with you, which where photographed. Personally I took a 1100 mah ego with mini PT and the VTR with a 30s. Both with fresh coils.
It was noted though, that while there and sitting outside Euston waiting for the train home. Most users I saw where only using 1st gen. With the odd 2nd gen thrown in.
Needless to say, I did get some long looks, while chugging on the VTR, but sadly no enquiries.

I admit I don't know if the two are linked but I understand that it was based on 5800 vapers/smokers between 2009-14. The uptake in gen 2 & 3 has increased massively over the last 2 years. I might look into this a bit more. Certainly I have seen comments made by commentators (eg VTTV) that had the survey been mainly the more advanced vapers (and given the period over which it was based it probably couldnt), the results would improve still further

I can't find specific reference to gen 1-3 and so I assume they were all considered together. West does accept that ecigs can vary a great deal in their efficacy in nicotine delivery

"In particular, there is considerable variability in nicotine vaporisation between different types of e-cigarette"

It's a different study to the one I took part in. Found this time frame,
conducted monthly between July 2009 and February 2014
My lab session was 12/03/14

Also mine was about long term health effects.
Extract from the invitation email
About the study:
The aim of this study is to investigate the possible health effects of using nicotine-containing products long-term. We will be doing this by assessing what potential harmful chemicals are entering the bodies of people using these products.

So I hereby stand corrected.
