ECITA say that wall chargers that are rated higher than 500mA should not be used?

yeah i was told the same when i was starting to vape that using wall plugs overloads the battery it can cause it to become unstable we've all seen these horror stories my mate actually charged his through a wall plug and it basically melted

With everything else going on in this thread, I forgot to reply to this... do you know what the wall plug was, and what the charger was? - I have also had a cheap non-CE charger melt on me - when doing research into unbranded ecigs from dodgy chinese suppliers.

But I think we are talking at cross purposes here
the charger (above) is 420mA
the USB supply to various chargers can be as big as you like
as long as you use one dedicated charger per battery

Well, it's not possible to screw more than one ego battery into an ego charger? :S or am I missing your point?

They have answered this in the blog now basically they were covering themselves against ignorant users
In your case you have an authentic charger.
The exploding one must have had IMO
1 Charger not fit for purpose
2 An adaptor straight USB to EGO
This would of course dangerously overcharge the battery

I too have replied to their reply. - is it visible instantly? - this time it doesn't say anything about awaiting moderation?

It was just a standard iphone charger wall plug cant remember what e cig battery it actually was, It wasnt anything special just a generic battery that came with a starter kit

Basically, batteries have a max charge amperage. 2.1amps exceeds this amperage. Battery goes boom.

This is kind of true Raguri, However in the case of the Exploding totally wicked Tornado battery I suspect that it wasn't the wall wart that was at fault but the dongle that plugged into the wall wart. I may be wrong on this but I suspect that the dongles for a 650mAh battery and for 1100mAh batteries have different charging rates and that if a 650 mAh battery is attached to an 1100mAh dongle then the slightest fault could result in the battery venting...

To be sure I'd need to check the output from various charger dongles to see what their output was...
