What's new

Ex smoker new to vaping but feel dizzy - need advice

Yeah as others have said try 6mg nicotine
the nausea is a slight nicotine OD for your own system can't quite handle

"usually" 20+ a day smokers need 16mg - maybe 18mg at first to get off the fags
12mg might suffice, or 16/18mg users can often drop a bit after a month or two to 12mg

Everybody is different and have different nic levels
adjusting or lowering can take a while for some & others can drop quite easily

levels are usually 3mg, 6mg, 11/12mg & 16/18mg in juice

you can dilute juice to lower nicotine a bit but you dilute flavour also

another way if 12mg is too much & 6mg is not enough of same juice
mix the 6mg & 12mg to make a 9mg juice (if 9mg is unavailable)

as said you dilute the juice or boost it with nic shots but this last stuff of mixing stuff
well it is probably overthinking it - you just need to lower your nicotine level

too high nicotine you'll get feel nausea on the too high nic levels
too low and you won't get your nic fix, so chain vape a bit more or worse give up & go back to fags

try a 6mg see how you go - reckon that should do it for a modest/casual/social smoker

This happened to me when I started out too. The problem is that you can only really smoke 2 or 3 fags on the trot before your mouth feels like the dregs of a bonfire, but with the lovely tasting juices we vape, it's sometimes hard to stop, especially when there don't seem to be any nasty after effects. This is until you realise you've puffed too much nicotine and the dizziness comes along. I also had trouble sleeping and when I did I was having terrible lucid nightmares. A little less nicotine and a bit of self control with the amount that I vaped sorted it out. Now I only have 3mg for dtl or 6mg for mtl and everything is great.

Thank you so much everyone for your advice and not getting all judgey over my lack of knowledge! Forums can be a scary place sometimes haha

I am shocked they recommended 18mg now, and when I mentioned dizziness to them they didn't seem bothered about my level and suggested it was an allergy to the flavour instead of a nicotine overdose! I've looked into symptoms and yep it's definitely that!!!

I will cut back a bit as am probably using it more than I should, once it is used up then will switch to another brand! Will have a nosy around the forum after work tonight for some ideas :)

Your daily/weekly quota of juice can vary loads depending on type of vaper (DTL/MTL)
How much you smoked 3 or 4, 20, 40+ a day etc....
as well as the level of nic you are using (without feeling sick/dizzy)

I was on about 18~20 fags a day I reckon....
I started out on e-cig pens probably doing maybe 25ml a week of 16/18mg at first
then went onto beter mtl setup and guess I do about 40ml a week on 6mg now
(it crept up a bit but nic lowered so sort evened out a bit (less nic but more glycerin))

Others on bigger cloud dtl do 100ml, 150ml or more a week on say 1~3mg nicotine

juice consumption will vary - even on two similar vapers
though if you rarely put the thing down and sleep with it then you might have issues
(I have no idea how that device ended up on my pillow btw)

The shop gave generic advice without listening to each individual customer's case
(be it they didn't fully understand - just gave an off-the-shelf example or just ignorant)
of course the ye old e-cig pens were 70pg drawing tight puffs so used less juice
hence not so dizzy on hiher nic

but when I switched to say Zenith, even though I was on 11/12mg I got a bit dizzy if I chained vape
so I diluted the juice a bit to say 9mg and just about eventually weaned down to 6mg on making my own juice
Yes my consumption gradually increased - especially chilling & chain vaping at weekends
but reckon that is about my lowest limit on 6mg mtl for now (doubt if I'll go lower for quite a while mtl)

Other Mouth To Lung users are often on 12mg mtl, some still on 16mg, a few on around 9mg
(probably shifting 30ml to 50ml I'd guess but don't quote as it is just a guess)
you will find YOUR own level & your body will tell if all is OK etc.....

ignore me - I waffle way way too much - you will suss it out now you understand it a bit more

ATB & well done for getting off the fags

You only know stuff after you know it, before that you don't know and we've all been there at some point...

If you like the juice (but not the strength) you can always dilute it down with lower strength.

If it's affecting you it seems a little silly in a way to keep using it just because you have it - I'm quite sure most, if not all, of us have had juice get tipped down the sink because it didn't suit. Taste and requirements are extremely personal and subjective and there's no shame in making that sort of mistake.
