Fake 25r sent out with device.

I bought a forz tx80 on offer from the vape city. It was advertised with a free 18650 cell included. I was expecting it to be a no make unknown that would be good for nothing anyway, but it was actually a fake 25r!

the date code on the wrap was march 2020 (so even if genuine, old)

from everything I have looked at this is why I believe it to be fake:

- Weight is off
- No mark on the bottom
- No codes on the barrel, completely blank
- isolation ring is attached via adhesive

most concerning is I cannot see a vent under the top cap.

So just reiterating the message I have seen on this forum, only use cells from trusted suppliers that do the checks. This has been re-wrapped and will be dropped straight in to the battery recycling box.

If they are fakes. I’d talk to the vendor first. If that gets you no joy. Contact trading standards, and make a report.

ive got some similar that are not fake. back then they only had the name and code like yours and not the do not store lose in pocket logo on them.
mine must be 4-5 years old and still going strong in my 3 battery mod.

from what I’ve read Samsung have never used adhesive insulator rings. The weight on this is 41.66 on my scales.

I have contacted the vendor but not heard back, they do not actually sell the 25r on its own so they must just be being sent out as the free cell with the devices.

I have already gotten Molicels and was never expecting to use this ‘free cell’ anyway, I was just surprised that it was branded as a 25r.

i’m not sure on what to do in regards to the trading standards, I will have to look in to it.

Consequences of a lithium battery playing up is pretty frightening. I definitely need to work out how to rewrap them too!
