So I've decided to build my first box mod,a dual parallel 18650.

I've a few questions I've sourced some bits but want to know what's the best wire to connect it all together? I watched a video where he used solid copper wire, read another used silver wire?

I want to sub ohm on this device but not super sub ohm so need to know what gauge / material would be best for least voltage drop.

Any tips or tricks greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi gebpell,

Take a look over on modmaker.co.uk , you will find most of the stuff you may need along with some useful info.

I would suggest you try 1.5mm wire, the silicon insulated wire is nice and flexible which tends to make life a little easier.

Thanks for the info, will go with the 1.5 wire. Also what switches would be best from modmaker? and do I have to use a mosfet? The switches mostly rated at 2amps. Most my builds are 0.2 to 0.4 ohms .Sorry for all the questions.

You should know how to calculate these things before you attempt to build a mod or could end up hurting yourself. Home work first build later.

Noooo, jump in at the deep end then realise what went wrong when it blows up [emoji2]

Good luck let us know how the build goes

As you will see when you input your intended resistances+voltages, the switch needs a mosfet or it just melts. mosfetswitch_zps3a26b2eb.jpeg

Mosfets are cheap & able to handle way more output currents than 18650's can safely produce.

A good source of solid copper wire is Twin & Earth domestic wiring,to insulate the copper wire I used silicon fuel pipe.Resulting in unmeasurable voltage drops all the way down to 0.05,but it was a ROYAL PITA to get it soldered(killed 3 soldering irons experimenting)so opted for 2.5mm silicon insulated wires from a model suppliers. This is slightly more lossy but these can be negated by keeping any wiring runs as short as possible.

Most of your intended build supplies can be purchased from Seedy ( ModMaker.co.uk ) but please take care as things can escalate rapidly if you make a simple mistake.
