This should have been finished months ago, but I was able to show it off at the meet on Saturday. A very old (80 years?) Coleman's Mustard Powder tin, from back when they used to have metal lids rather than plastic. 75x50x35mm. It's been knocking around the toolboxes and workshops of three generations (used to be in my grandfather's workshop, at one time), holding nails and such - and now I've totally ruined it.

I bought a cheapo single bay battery charger from Fasttech and cut away what I didn't need - which was very nearly all of it - and embedded the spring battery trap into the inner box, so it only takes one battery, but it will take any battery from 14500 or 18350, up to 26650. At least, I trust that it will; I don't actually have any 26650s yet, so I used a piece of 26mm steel tube as a dummy. It was going to have a VV/VW board, but I'm quite liking the simplicity of it as it is. There's room to retrofit a DNA20/30 if I feel the need, later on...

Quiet in here, innit?

Here's a couple more pics - with a 14500 Ba Gua clone, and a Sig 19 in 18350 mode for size comparison:

and with the Magoo on top:

Also, I forgot to thank stealthvape for various bits that went into this...

Somebody say something.

I like it and the fact you can chuck just about any batt you have lying around. Off topic but how you finding the magoo ?

I'm sure I saw one of those tins all beat up like that on antiques roadshow valued at several thousand pounds lol

Great job ☺

Sent with kind regards and salutations.

I like the Magoo a lot. It has its negatives: the AFC ring is a little baggy, which meant that it would rattle unless it was fully open or closed - until I applied a little Vaseline to the threads. It's a bit fiddly to set up, and it needs Res/NoRes wires and silica or ekowool (I haven't got it to play nice with cotton) and I just know the plastic nut that holds the live wire in place will break sooner or later... but it's a reliable performer, excellent vapour production (especially when dual coiled) and it's the only atty in my collection that has never leaked a drop.

Hey, @Mods, should I be agitating for a Mod Maker label, or something?

edit: it turns out there's a member called Mod. That's confusing. Hi, Mod, I wasn't really addressing you, I just... never mind...

I am a massive, massive fan of Brutalism as a design form.

This is a winner simply for using the word in the thread title :D
