I am by no way a mixer but lt's grab 4 containers:

1. 10ml ABC Juice (18mg) - 20% Flavouring
2. 10ml ABC Juice (12mg) - 20% Flavouring
3. 10ml ABC Juice (24mg) - 20% Flavouring
4. 10ml VG / PG - 0% Flavouring

If you add 3. and 4. you end up with: 20ml ABC Juice 12mg - 10% Flavouring
If you add 2. and 3. you end up with: 20ml ABC Juice 18mg - 20% Flavouring

Think of it like Apple and Blackcurrant juice (where Apple is the Nic, and Blackcurrant it the Flavouring).

I hope that made sense. Cutting Nic down is commonly done with the base Nic, and for me I see these advantages:
Working with a lower Nic is safer and easier to deal with
Storage is easier (you can also freeze Nic too for later use)
It sounds cool, like a hard core class a supplier

I'm glad yours did..................

Glad its not just me then, because I cant make the sums add up!

If you add 3 & 4 together the strength would be 12 mg and if you add 2 & 3 together the strength would be 16.5 mg surely. :(

Hang on. Figures are wrong. Let me correct.
Glad you spotted the 'deliberate' mistake.

Nah, you're right.
I thought something was wrong when I was doing it but like most things I just kind of type it and leave it.
