Hi guys

I've had a couple of kayfun clones for a while, have been using them occasionally but have stuck too my protanks for all day use.

So now I'm putting the protanks in the drawer and putting the kayfuns into regular use but just wanted some examples of coils too build.

I've coiled them a few times in the past with .25 and cotton which has worked ok but am looking for a good build that won't take much faffing to build. (I think this is why I stuck with protank 2 for so long, I could recoil in minutes consistently every time, 7 wraps of .2 on a 1.4mm driver gave me 2ohms every time)

I have .18 / .20 / .25 / .30 and .1x.3 / .1x.5 ribbon
And I have 2mm silica, 2mm voodoo and cotton

I'm probably going to go for about 1.5ohm

Out of what I've got, what builds would you guys go for?

Wraps / diameter / wick

I think last time I coiled em I did .25 on a 1.8mm driver with cotton but am open to suggestions

Faff Free Five Minute Build - that works 100% of the time - Double bit of 2mm silica, hand wrap with wire of choice (depending on what your Ohms target is). Attach coil to posts. Screw on the chamber with the wicks sticking up and through. Trim wicks to a smidgin higher than chamber. Gently poke wicks down to the deck ( one right one left, or one north one south depending how you look at it). Assemble Kayfun, fill, and vape. Sorted for a fortnight or until you get bored and want to make a new coil for the sake of it.

Yeah that's the sort of thing I'm looking for, I don't mind building but I'm not one for faffing for an hour with pillows of cotton or chimneys. I want to be able to build and fill and enjoy, I think thats why I stuck with the protanks for so long, just felt like I have these kayfuns so I should give em a fair crack of the whip and see if they rock my world

Here's one of my builds on it back when I still used my Kayfun

Twisted .2 kanthal 7 wraps. Think it was around 1.2ohm. Cotton wick.
Tried silica - wouldn't wick fast enough. I like to build a neat coil & feed wick through. Just can't get that with anything but cotton.
Now I've got the cotton quantity right, seems to be perfect every time.

1.1 Ohm Micro coil, 3 lengths of thin cotton yarn:

Should have added, that coil was made using .32 Kanthal, about 8 wraps around a 2mm watchmakers screwdriver.

The coil will last for ages, just change the wick and dry burn (coil only) about every 2 fills

Looks nice, I have been mounting my coils diagonally across the deck rather than straight down the middle, yours looks much tidier.
I tried coiling with .3 but when dry burning I found it took a while to start glowing, so I junked it for some thinner kanthal.
How do you run your coil? Mech or vw?
