Having a nightmare with TC!

Previously I tended to get a few coils heating up rather than the entire coil, effectively creating hot spots. This happened even with spaced coils.

I now try to ensure the spacing is as uniform as possible and also give the cool a good few strums even though I don't dry burn. After a few tanks of juice it's evident that the entire coil is heating as all wraps are gunked up.

Maybe worth a try mate.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I am at work at the moment so I can't add any pictures as its at home. It's 10 wraps with 26 gauge with a 3mm diameter coming out at 0.06 ohms running it at 410F at 30 joules. Set at this I'm finding it a bit lacking in vapour and flavour but I do not want to go any higher and burn the hole thing up. I have the resistance locked in.
actually that coil seems a little low. You're best off aiming above 0.1 ohm if possible as that seems to be the sweet spot for TC wrt nickel. Don't be too afraid of cranking the temp up a bit but play with less wick as that will be the key it's about balancing air flow and the ability to wick juice to the coil as those two things will prevent overheating resulting in the power being throttled. Stick in there!

This is a bit low, I agree with Beastie here. You might want to consider thinner wire (I use 0.3 mm). The lower the resistance of your build, the less accurate TC will be. At 0.06 Ohm with Ni, the actual resistance change corresponding to a 10 oC temperature change is around 0.004 Ohm. Depending on the accuracy of the device, this may result in some erratic behaviour due to imprecision.

Thanks for all the replies and advice people i have manged to get one coil that seems to be doing ok so far. built it in my TFV4 RBA deck. took me around 100 tries though haha!

I'd advise against trying to use the TFV4 RBA for temp control with Ni200, it's just too damn small to get a good resistance, use Ti01, or NiFe30, but read up / watch a few tutorials before you use either...

Your videos have really helped in building TC coils, so a big thank you to you sir!

This is my setup with the Sigelei 150W TC.
28 Gauge, 11 wraps around a standard screwdriver you would use for the drippers screws (Sorry I don't have the size) and a good bit of wick to help present the juice well.

Definitely want to be hitting the sweet spot of 0.1 - 0.2 and if you have a hot coil arm; you need to start again :(

Forgot to mention it's NI200 I'm using....

of all the wire available now for TC vaping, Ni200 is the worst! Check out Ti or some of the NiFe alloys (NiFe30, NiFe70, NiFe48/52) or even stanless steel although that has different issues! Anything but Ni!!!
