Hi all and greetings form the Loughborough area, analog smoker for 12 years transistioning.
After multiple failed attempts at transistioning to vapes I was left with a feeling of disappointment as to why I was unable to enjoy vaping and leave the analogs behind. The years have passed since I first tried a look a like e-cig and I remember well that first experience. I was filled with excitement and joy at prospect of a healthier alternative to the carcinogenic filled sticks of the past, the extra money I would now have after relieving myself from the huge pleasure tax I was paying day in day. And regaining my sense of small and taste back to their former glory days. Needless to say I'm sure I'm not alone and many have felt WTF moment upon trying those early prototypes. "It's just not the same" or "It don't hit the spot" where regular topics of discussion between me and my smoking partner. The dream fizzled out as soon as it was a light and we continued our lives.
As the technology improved bigger more bizzare looking gadgets would stare at me every time I would fill up with petrol. The 2nd coming was just as disappointing as the first. Sure there was novelty and flavours galore but these machines would break and leak all over the place and would often be so harsh they were unbareable to inhale deep.
Fast forward to the present day. Again a health kick is in place partly enforced by she who must be obeyed who is most probably subliminaly inspired by the vast advertising of the stoptober campaign. However this time is different, designated vape shops have opened all over the country and more and more people are wielding devices bigger than your mobile phone. So after work I trundled along with what I was hoping would be my last analog as I approached my local vape shop. 40 minutes had passed by of tasting flavours like a sommelier in training and knowledge was passed along as if it was a sacred act I was embarking on. a few flavours were put aside and it was now time to choose a device. jargon was was coming out of my sense mouth over my head and out the door. I conceded to the idea that this was a learning process and I just need to jump in the deep end and hope there was enough features at hand to tailour my vape and succeed this time.
I walked out with ipv 70watt box a crown tank and 3 flavours from house of liquid. At 50/50 pg/vg 10mg nicotine. The device was primed a quick toot to test and was on my way home. The first toot seemed harsher then the testers In he shop and I put that down to settings and having caped a lot while I was in there.
A short journey home and I was eger to put my feet up with my favourite blend of coffe puffing on my caramel cream vape. Setting were played but i couldn't replicate my experience in the vape shop. It was harsh or very airy at times hot to inhale. It was then the a spark hit my brain maybe a filter tip from my roll ups would soften the vape. I walked to the kitchen, opened the box and pulled a single loose swan filer tip out. The size match was perfect! as if it was made for the job. With my lips around the mouth piece of my newly purchased block of metal I would no doubtably get ridiculed for by my non smoking friends I inhaled. I felt a slight resistance to the air flow reminiscence of hand rolled analog, I blew out... No cough I smiled it was a eureka moment. I had found a way to personally enjoy vaping.
Now quitting smoking is hard and I'm not going to beat myself up over the odd my here and there for me this is a transistioning so wish me luck as I wean of the cancerous teat of the analog.
