Hi thanks for all you kind words and help guys, yes i do use infraview it is great! i did try a watermark and it came out very similar to what you have done, but i was still unsure about it as i think it detracts from the quality of the photo. i will continue to have a play.
i might speak to the website guys and see if they can stop the images being copied.

With Windows Snipping tool there its pretty much impossible to stop images from being copied.. plus many other methods..i know all about it having spent many many hours discussing it on photography forums.
my sample was set to 90% opacity. if you try around 95-97 it will be there in the faintest of forms.
yo can also register your images and have tracking embedded into them but thats rather extreme and can be expensive.
The problem is if the copyright is to small or hidden then people wont notice it anyway. so its a difficult one to call.
YOu can of course put your logo in the top corner. This wont stop the image being stolen BUT if they crop the image to remove the Logo thats a criminal offence.
Also a disclaimer on the website stating all images are copyright and stolen images will result in legal action disclaimer can help too.
