6 months ago i stopped smoking cigarettes using a vape.long and short of it quite quickly i went from being a heavy smoker to a light vaper and then ultimately to a non vaper for 2 months.so I have been nicotine free for 2 months.
Unfortunately,I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder pretty quickly therafter and am not faring to well.Has anyone had or heard of similair experiences and am wondering if taking up vaping again may help.

Hi @edward butler welcome to POTV.

in all honesty if you think vaping will reduce your anxiety then I see no problem taking up vaping again even if it’s zero nic.

I’m certainly no expert and there is a forum for it but CBD might be a suitable option.

good luck

Hello edward butler, welcome to the forum. I don’t know about anxiety but could your problem be related to coming off nicotine to quickly, perhaps a talk to your doctor about you stopping smoking so quickly he may advise a different options for you. Good luck mate.

Very difficult to say as I have no medical qualifications. I guess it is possible giving up nicotine and all the other chemicals in cigarettes could contribute to this condition. Some people can just give up instantly whereas for others it can take time. You could try going back to vaping to see what happens.

Hi and Welcome

Sorry to hear you are suffering with anxiety, i can relate.
I agree with the above, maybe coming off so quickly didnt help, who knows for sure but its worth a try and see how u get on.
Have they prescribed anything for u, u do not need to explain if u are uncomfortable doing so, just want to ensure you are getting the help you need as I know how hard it is yo suffer with anxiety.

Take care Dee

I remember reading about the benefits of nicotine and there was a report that it helps with many psychological conditions. The majority of people who are referred to mental health services are smokers, turns out they were unknowingly self medicating with nicotine because it helped with their symptoms. They didn't fare well when they tried to quit and that was part of the government report, that they should try vaping as a means of harm reduction.

Kind of related to your experience but just wanted to let you know there's some data to back up your findings.

Worth a try to see for yourself IMO, if you feel any better.

I'm neither a doctor nor a psychologist, but I wonder if smoking, vaping and other addictive / habitual behavious may be a way to get relief from anxiety. So once you stop self-medicating, they come to the forefront again.

Purely armchair psychology, take it with a grain of salt or 10.

I suffer loads of Anxiety issue and get Anxious over the Silliest of things, it is a state of mind thing and though on medication for it, it does help slightly but still suffer bad bouts of it. I haven't been out of the house for god knows how long because of it. Having smoked from 11 years old i found for me switching to vaping helped especially the Nicotine side of it. I feel less stressed when i have had my Nicotine so it may indeed help with your Anxiety. Welcome to the Planet btw.
