Tried my first one today, a guy I know who owns a vape shop, recently got himself the genuine article.

Holy shit, best mtl vape I've ever had, the throat hit was insane and it was from 20mg nic salts. He said he was using the steam tuners tank/chimney thing with a 0.4ohm mtl clapton.

I'm just blown away by the throat hit, from nic salts of all things. Think I've actually found my perfect vape.

Sorry for the gush fest, but it honestly blew me away. No more vape device purchases, looks like I'll be saving up for a long while to get my hands on one of these.

They "can" be a bit special eh? :) Really it's all down to finding the right Bridge that suits your style and needs. If you liked what an Insider does, you wait till you try an Exocet. :sinister:

Sounds like a rabbit hole. Are the cheaper sxk clones with their own chipset worth it?

I have no desire to mess around with escribe software on a dna board. Would just be using wattage mode around 10-15w, MTL.

Are they identical to the sxk dna versions, minus the dna chipset? Build quality and materials all the same?

Most SXKs now have DNA60 Boards anyway. The USB appears to be considered a "must have" by many it seems but we don't have any here and like yourself, run at Low Wattages, absolute Maximum of 15 watts, but usually around 12.5 to 14. Personally I have no intention of using Temperature Control on any BB, so it makes the USB somewhat redundant straight away. :)
The SXK quality has improved greatly over the last 12 months or so and it si a very decent alternative to the more expensive authentic.
The device is only as good as the Bridge that you choose and the build you decide upon. I would always recommend the SXK Exocet as a brilliant starting point for a quality rebuildable Bridge. Many "seasoned" BB Users still swear by the Exocet and I can say I have never had a moments concern with it.

It's as much of a Rabbit Hole as you choose to make it. The massive market in replacement Panels, Drip Tips etc only deals with aesthetics, having little effect upon the vape itself. :)

Either flavour of SXK BB have USB, handy for charging. Only see the DNA60 without USB which defeats the object really. Even if you don't use Escribe/TC it's nice to have a charging option. It's suggested that DNA boards are more reliable than the SXK version but even if it fails it's not overly expensive to swap out. I have one of each & if/when the SXK board fails I'll swap it out for a DNA as there's always Evolvs aftercare to give you some peace of mind.

So you can easily swap out the chip, if it ever dies? I never charge 18650s inside mods, so I'd settle for one without USB if it is cheaper. I just carry a spare 18650 in the fogstar pouch, usually one 18650 lasts me a full day anyway.

I know very little about BBs at this point Rob, not sure what a bridge is... By the sound of your post I'm going to assume a bridge would be the exocet?

I presume a good starting point is to buy one of the SXK versions, then an exorcet and I'd be good to go?

Birthday is coming up in October, see if I can treat myself. No way can I afford an authentic.

The guy was running some sort of mini mtl clapton, ohming out at 0.4 and running at 15w. I'll source the same coils as him, hopefully I can replicate the vape on the clone.

Yeah, sorry @Toastie, a "Bridge" is the Bit inside the Boro (Tank) that in our case is a Rebuildable, i.e "Insider" or Exocet, Crossbow, Vapeshell etc. etc.

There's a bit of soldering but the DNA60 is the same size wise as the SXK chip. Also if the screen fails on a DNA it's just plug in fitting but on the SXK it's replace everything. Also it's only a tenner difference between USB & non USB on the DNA. The non Dna version comes with USB.

Are the SXK chip sets known for failing prematurely? Be good to hear feedback from someone who uses one as a daily driver.

Less than £95 for the non-dna including exocet vs £150ish for the DNA60 including Exocet.

If money weren't a huge issue, I'd definitely go for the DNA. I'm happy to go for the SXK chip, providing I can get good feedback on here than I'm not buying something I'd regret later.

If money is tight then buy from china. Should work out around £50-80 depending on model.

If you'd like to borrow an sxk and Exocet to see if it for you then I'm sure I could help :)
