How do the vv/vw do it?

Can anyone give me an indication as to how a vamo can pull 6v from 4.2v battery?
I think they somehow pulse but how do they do it?
Do they use capacitors or something?

Its certainly electronics wizardry but not magic! ;-)

They use an inductor, which is basically just a coil of wire. It converts current to voltage via magnetism.

Thanks guys. Going o have to get me one and give it a bash. Will led voltmeters be able to read the voltage alright?

I've tried a quick test on my Vamo with the inline voltmeter, and all was as it should have been reading-wise until I went for 3 volts which was where the readings started flashing weirdly, the same thing happened on watt setting too,3 watts just reads 0.09 but only half the digits were lit fully the others were dim.

I thought the Vamo could only go to 6v with 2x 18350's in series, that way is using a step-down and not a buck.
