I bought the Copper Panzer clone from focalecig last month. Nice mod, best I've had so far, hits very hard (was very cheap in the focal offer!!!) but it's tarnished to shit after just a few days :(

Bought like this (small tarnish spots but nothing bad) stayed like this for a couple days...

After a few days (less than a week) it's gone like this

Probably being a bit naive as it's my first all copper mod but thought it would stay nice & shiny! Looks a right sod to clean too!

Ive got the Vanilla & Akuma copper mods coming from FT, these ones I'd like to keep looking nice and as mint as possible! What's the best way to keep them all shiny?

Cheers Chuck

On a different view point on another thread but could relate to this question, http://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/f...g_66/43640-protective-coating-for-patina.html, i'd polish it up wearing gloves and give it a clear-coat, though i think most ppl use a Cape Cod polishing cloth, Cape Cod Polishing Cloths for Fine Metals Pack of 2 - Cleans and Polishes | eBay.

Thanks for the reply.

Really not a fan of the Patina look, I'll get them cloths thanks :)

So basically I just clean it first, polish it up with the cloth then use the clear coat kit? Does this need reapplying often or should it last a while?

Clearcoat it right after polishing (the patina is caused by oxidization), just give it a couple of coats letting it dry for at least 24 hours between each, should just be able to give it a wipe with a cloth to clean it after that.

copper is a bitch to keep clean. I used to work in a signal box and every weekend we polished the brass and copper. Took hours, though there was a lot of it. We used wadding type stuff (same as brasso wadding). I still remember the satisfaction of the end result every weekend, but that said, it never lasted and was a constant task. Then one day they came and ripped it all out to make it into a nice modern power box. looked crap and never the same.

Thats the problem with copper, dont like to be looked at, held, used etc as it repays you by going patina :(

+1 for Cape Cod clothes, it did unbelievable things for shining mine up, but it soon gathers its old patina again

Once you have got it back to looking good, this is the stuff to coat it with to stop it happening again, I've coated all my copper ones with it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've ordered the cloths off ebay, I'll get the test kit later.

Ive got a few copper mods coming from FT now, I'll let the panzer go bit want to keep these looking nice ;)
