Right couple questions

Firstly, do SS coils for temp control need to be spaced? if they do will that mean you wouldnt be able to run a coil say like a fused clapton because the cores of the clapton would be touching?

Second if you had a SS clapton with SS316 core and SS316L wrap would you be able to use that in temp control mode as they both need different tcr settings or would you just use the core wire to base your temp control off?

Danke!!!

When I used to do TC a lot I found that spaced coils worked much better- contact coils tended to throw the TC off. You can fiddle with it on a DNA to make it work better but I'd still go with spaced.

With the claptons I never Vaped a Clapton in TC mode, but I'd run with the use TC for the core wire as opposed to the Clapton.

Tell you who might know for sure though...

Haha might not be as noob as you think I was makeing ss316l claptons and tried temp control couldn't get them to work so gave up !!! But it was my first go at tc and claptons

They don't have to be spaced but the improvement in all respects when they are, make spaced the only way imo.

I'm no expert but my guess would be that fused claptons would work fine. Will be interested to discover what you find if you make some.

316 and 316L's TCRs are virtually identical. Can't see it being a problem.

@danb or @Tubbyengineer could probably give a better answer.

That was quick [emoji2]

What I would say, is that SS (of any description) is quite poor for TC accuracy and as such, requires a decent resistance to get the best vape. 0.35 and up works well. I quite often use SS316 Claptons in TC but they are 28/32, which works really well.

Nice one lads, will do some different builds some time in the week and see what happens :D

I do like SS claptons. A whole hell of a lot, but I'd be interested to see how you get them working in temp control.

Are you feeling ok by the way? First regulated, now temp control? [emoji15][emoji39]

xD I'm not interested in using temp control, was more of a curiosity on how the more "advanced" builds would act if they where done with temp control in mind and if it would be possible to run them as a temp control set up :D
