Idiot's Guide to recoiling?

Doofry - thank you so very much!!

I have just made my 1st micro coil with cotton wool - WOW!!

And it can only get better - I did 5 coils of .20 kanthal and I'm getting 2.9ohms which is probably too high, if I can get the ohms down to 1.5ish then it should be better no?

Now, from my understanding I need to do maybe 7 or 8 coils to get the ohms down - correct?

But, its a great starting point.

Not sure I can see any use for my Protank or Aspire other than when I'm out and about and its inconvenient to drip.....

More coils = higher resistance, yes? So 7-8 coils will increase ohms

Just did my first....see wow thread lol.....5 wraps of .25 and cotton gave me 1.5ohms....excellent vape.

Fleabag - just did another - 7 coils with 0.25 kanthal - now getting 2.1ohms and its vaping a treat!

Kind want to cloud chasing now but I must resist!!

How did your coiling efforts go?

well - I got a bit impatient - so I ploughed on by guesswork. I used a pin in some blue tack to support it, used 3 strands of silica and 4 wraps of kanthal. No shorts - coming out at 1.8ohm & seems a vape well.

I do plan to try cotton wool at some point, but trying to keep it basic initially until I get the hang of it (this stuff has been waiting for me to take the plunge for ages, and I wanted to get comfortable with recoiling the dripper before I venture into the kanger heads)

More straightforward than I thought. No shorts - 4 wraps around 3 strands of silica - 1.8ohm. Vaping nicely.

The only thing that puts me off cotton on the next attempt is that you have to change it with each flavour - I'll be continually buggering about with cotton!
