Im looking for a good custard recipe. can anybody help me i am fine with mixing but would appreciate your flavour ratios as i have never had a custard juice before now. thanks in advance :anyone:

Capellas Vanilla Custard 15%

Perfumer's Apprentice Dulche De Leche 2%

Ethyl Maltol, between 1 and 2 drops Per 10ml

It will look a light Straw Colour, give it a minimum of a week to steep, Cap Off, when ready it turns to a light orange

That's the standard gvc clone mix that people are going with and that's what I've been doing with great results so far :)

thanks dan dan jumped on the bandwagon haven't i. every body mentions GVC on every thread but im more in to making them then purchasing them haha. i shall knock this one up tonight appreciate your input.

there is a few folks doing custard recipes on here most about the same but it's down to taste really..

mine is nearly same as Dan's but i added 1% sweetener because my sweet tooth...

think ill use dan dans and another i have found on here and play about with them till i find my taste cheers everybody.

I'm still tweaking that recipe as I had a nicer throat hit on my first batch with a different pg/vg ratio but I suppose that's more to do with preference than taste but can make a difference

There is another ingrediant that makes it really good mate

my personal recipe

Vanilla Custard (PA or Capella) 17%
PA French Vanilla Deluxe 5% (or just use their normal French Vanilla if you worried about diacetyl, but i use it) this really improves it.
Em 2% (ethyl malatol, (sweetner))
DDL 2% (Dulce De Leche) makes it creamy

I'm expecting my Capella custard to drop through the door today, like it didn't on saturday. So I'm giving this recipe a go.

I was very low on the DDL so I dropped in at EcigWizards during the school run this morning to pick some up and while I was there I bought a bottle of Mrs B's vanilla custard to try as a comparison.

Wound a new coil round a new wick in the RDA, dripped half a dozen drips in and took a very cautious suck. Well, unlike most if not all new flavours I try I certainly wasn't disappointed. It isn't a strong, intense flavour but it is bloody nice, really, really nice.

If Grants is anything like that and I can recreate it with a slightly stronger taste I'll be a very happy man. Wonder if this 10ml of Mrs B's will last long enough to let my brew steep... Doubt it the way it's going so far.

I'll let you know how I get on.

@jcol I got a bottle of PA vanilla so I might add a drop or two of that as well.

Trust me Tony, it makes a big difference.
I tried the usual VC recipe of VC, DDL & EM and was dissapointed with it, not a patch on Grants.
However adding the Vanilla made it much better, imo its 90-95% similar to grants which is good enough for me.

Also i find a 3 week minimum steep is needed for all the flavours to become prominent, i often leave mine 5 weeks lol, but i have a production line going ;-)
Or using a milk frother can decrease the steep time, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgjpc0rQWbc skip to 33 mins iirc)
