What's new

I'm thinking of brewing my own. Is it worth it?/How?

I just headed straight for the deep end and bought 250ml each of NicPG base, VG and PG plus 20 flavours (a few 30ml, the rest 10ml). The calculators are mostly pretty straightforward, but many don't do the PG/VG ratio for you, so you just adjust this according to your preference. I tweaked the ratios early on and settled on 50/50, which is less harsh than some of the ready mixed. When making up in 10ml batches, the ratios are easy, as the flavours and nicotine are usually in PG base, so you know that 5ml of VG will provide 50% - then you add your chosen flavour/nicotine quantities and the remainder up to 10ml will be PG (same applies for any ratio - i.e. 30% VG will be 3ml if all your other ingredients are PG). Now I've settled on 50//50 mix, I make up a 30ml bottle of unflavoured base (adjusted to allow for the flavour to be added later), add 1ml at a time to a clearo and about 8-10 drops of flavour, so I can test blends. Once perfected, I can make up a 10ml bottle.

First of, thanks Andy for the Android juice calculator. Great and I'll take a look after this. :D

DIYing your juice works out a hell of a lot cheaper than buying, but most of all it's FUN ;) . You can make mixes that are exactly how you like them, just the right strength, the right amount of flavour.

At first I made 5ml bottles, now I find it's best to mix flavours separately, and put them together once you want to vape them. Like that I see which ones go with each other, and I can change my
mixes as easily as filling my PV. One day I feel like some fruit in my tobacco, and easy, I just add some from its' bottle. Or maybe I feel like caramel, there it is in its own bottle waiting to be added.
Of course some flavours need a bit of adjustment to be good, and that I do in the initial mix. Like adding EM (Ethyl Maltol, sweetens, and helps combine flavours), or Bitter Wiz, or whatever.

Also I write down the recipes, with the % of flavour, VG, PG, and any adjustments I make, after tastings. I always label the bottles to correspond with my notes. If not, a month or two later, with 20 or 30 bottles of different try outs, you forget exactly how much of what you put in to get that super juice at last :P . And that'd be a shame.

Jump in and buy your Nicotine, VG, PG, and the flavours you think you'd like. Get good quality flavours, like Capella, Flavorarts, Theperfumersapprentice, Vapingzone Super Conc, etc. , from a good supplier. Read the DIY juice info on all the forums you can, and where people near you (at least in your continent, anyhow ;) ) buy their stuff. And don't forget you'll need bottles. At first you can use old empty ones, but as you get going you'll find you need to buy them.

Good mixing, have fun most of all, and eventually, HAPPY TASTY VAPING :P

If you have an android device use @jrob3rts mixing app. It is simply the best without being complicated. Much better than the one listed above.

and if you are on iDevices ... bully James constantly to join the apple dev program and make an apple version ... .

or use liquidX which is pretty good as well .. not as good though ;)

get the mixing ap for andriod if you have something to run it, as it is very simple and allows for ratios and pg content in flavours etc, takes the maths out of mixing

What a good idea. Now where is that James person to bully.

Oh no it's me. Go away you freaks.

Out of subject :P but Blossom, if this gorgeous dog is yours, take a peep at 'Let's talk about dogs', in the Lounge. Amusing, heartbreaking, but worth the read if you're a dog person, with the odd cat, bird :D, etc. from time to time.
I love it ;)
