Hi

Following good advice from this forum I bought an EVOD starter kit from myepack, this one:

http://myepack.co.uk/kits/e-vod-kit.html

I like it but I find I never quite know how it will perform and I am finding it annoying. I understand all sorts of factors affect the vape but I try to keep everything consistent, clean and charged to minimise the variables. If I were guessing I would say it is the coil head things but it is only a guess.

Is there something I am missing or is that just how it is? I have a choice of 1.8 & 2.5 ohm heads but cant tell the difference really.

If that is how it is what is the next step for an upgrade? More volts and a better tank thing would be my guess but I dont know what to get. At it's best I like the EVOD but I would like a bit more 'smoke'.

Thanks

David

What kind of problems is it giving you?, does it work ok at first then get less and less vapour or is it something else?

Hi Tubby

Sometimes I get very little vapour and lots of air, almost like has an air leak that I cant find.

It is also poor if fluid comes through the coil hole into the top of the battery, does the fluid conduct electricity?

I shall go for a quick smoke now, it was rubbish at 6pm so I will see if it the same without altering anything.

Still not great although better than earlier, is there a preferable orientation in which they like to be stored?

I covered two of the three small air inlet holes and that improved things a bit, and things were still improved when I uncovered them - is that normal?

If it isn't working well then it does seem to offer less and less vapour but I dont know if that is just me getting more and more frustrated with it.

That sounds like a problem with the coil head, take out the old coil abd replace it with a spare one. Make sure it's screwed into the base firmly but dont force it. also check the little air holes on the bottom of the tank are free from any juice or dirt and clean the centre pin or the battery with a bit of paper towel to remove any juice.

Also as a new user I'd advise you that it's not like the old analogue fags, To get the best from it press the button just before you draw on it, then use a slow steady draw lasting around 3 or 4 seconds then release the button just after you stop drawing on it.

If you draw too hard or keep drawing without firing you can start to flood the coil - You can tell if that's happened as you'll get a bubbling or gurgling sound / feel when you draw on it. To resolve that take the tank off the battery put a piece of kitchen towel over the thread end - then, keeping the thread end up - blow through the mouthpiece, that will clear out juice from the coil etc and get you running again...

I have changed the coils quite a lot, mostly it has improved things but sometimes not. Sometimes I have gone back to an old head and it is great, I just cant pin it down to one thing.

I have the hang of the draw, you have to let it come to you almost - as you say if you pull too hard it doesn't go well. The trouble is when it isn't going well the draw lasts so long I have to stop to breathe! I know it isn't always like this that is why it is so frustrating.

You've not lost the silicon gasket which fits between the coil and the housing, have you?

I've also found that sometimes straight after refilling either an evod or my Protank Mini that I have to slacken-off the tank ever so slightly before I get a draw. Might be worth trying that, a bit at a time.

If you aren't getting gurgling but still very little vapour then it sounds like it might be a problem with the battery or centre pin. First off was it a single kit or the twin kit - in other words do you have a spare tank or battery and do you get the same problem with those? It could be a faulty tank - unusual with Evods but not unknown, also check the centre pin in your battery has not got crushed down - you can use a small screwdriver etc to gentkt lift the pin up a bit, google ego centre pin fix on you tube.

yeh - almost sounds like the evod isn't connected properly - no heat?

When you hold the EVOD to your ear & press the button do you hear the eliquid "popping" ?

Unlike a ciggie where you draw on it when it's horizontal, always have the EVOD on a downward slant. That way with the coils at the bottom the eliquid is in contact with the coil at all times.

Might be just me but when my EVOD is getting towards only a quarter full it underperforms so I top it up. Convinced myself it's the loss of weight of liquid above the coil that's causing it.
