What's new

Is my Voopoo drag mini battery faulty? PLEASE HELP

yea, @Martin Dadley ... Wismec Presa 75w, it's a really nice little mod actually, 3 years old and still going strong but all the paint is scratched to hell and the 510 is a bit mangled looking. The display is really nice though. I've just put a new 30Q in it and reset the time counter, 26 seconds so far. :D

It's only registers presses over 1 second so taps to wake the screen and turn on and off aren't counted. I do actually miss this feature, it was a good one. You can compare batteries fairly accurately and see how different wattage effects the run time.
Haha That's pretty useful, especially for answering threads like this, surprised more mods don't have that feature.

... rather than LED's you can change the colour of or Voopoo's lame 'FIT' system. :D

Honestly I think most products are getting worse not better, lol.

well, I've got over a minute (63 seconds) on it and It's dropped a segment already, so I expect it's down to 4.1v already ..... that's vaping for minute at 11.7w :D

Maths time!

Now, I know this is regulated, but the relationship between amp draw and mAh still applies.

45 watts at 0.2 ohms is 15 amps
45 watts at 0.15 ohms is 17.32 amps

5000 mAh is 5 amp hours. So that's 20 minutes vaping at 15 amps.

4400 mAh is 4.4 amp hours. So that's just over 15 minutes vaping at 17.32 amps.

So, without taking anything else (extra amp draw means more battery sag, possible higher cut off voltage) into account, you are looking at only 3/4 of the runtime, if the old setup was 5000 mAh.

For some reason I've got it in my head that the battery for the drag mini is a lipo and if it is would that make a difference?

I don't own one so not 100% sure but the mini has "FIT" SETTINGS. Maybe try a different setting.

Try FIT 1 perhaps?

But it does sound like you've gone from a 5000mah battery to a 4400mah battery and you're now using a lower resistance coil so drawing more amps at the same power setting. It's the amp draw that matters in regard to battery life not just the wattage setting.

what do you make of this... if you fancy doing some more maths?

Set to 11.5w throughout
0.7ohm coil (SS316L)
Mod shows 2.84v applied
3000mAh battery (30Q) fully charged to 4.2v was at 3.13v when removed (according to Nitecore D2)
It's basically lasted me 24 hours (I slept for 7 of those)

Time Counter: 2039 (seconds)

I make that just under 34mins actual vape time.

0.7 ohms at 11.5 watts is 4.05 amps, or 4050 mA.

At 100% efficiency, 3000 mAh should have given you 44 minutes vaping.

But no board is 100% efficient - there are always losses. And unless the battery was brand new, you won't get the full 3000 mAh out of it.

To me, 34 minutes seems about right.

It's surprising how little real time your batteries actually run for (well, it is for me anyway) it's not really that long is it? Shows how hard we use them I guess..... I mean if your torch or whatever only last 15-30 mins you'd think 'blimey, that didn't last long' wouldn't you? It's seems like a long time but when I say "it lasted me all day" I'm really saying it lasted half an hour.
