Is necessary to turn off Vaporesso when not in use?

Hi. I recently bought a Vaporesso Solo Sky Plus. It's my first vape... But it seems odd to me that even the user manual recommend turning off the device when not in use... Always? I know one of the reasons is to prevent accidentally burning when it's on a pocket for example, but when I'm at home? And the device is not in a pocket? Over the desk... I need to turn it off even in that case? Please help, i haven't found anything about this topic in Internet, and I'm afraid of damaging the device by using it incorrectly.

Should be fine to leave it on, some devices will continue to drain the battery when not in use though which if left without charging for a long period of time can kill the battery. If you're using it and recharging it regularly then should be fine.

*Having said that you do quicky pick up the habit of just turning it off, I rarely ever leave any of my devices on.

I normally always forget to turn mine off, really depends on the device whether or not it will accidently fire in your pocket on not depending on the button whether it sits flush or not.

I wouldn't have said it was necessary and it shouldn't do any harm but I always turn mods off if not using.

Hi @AlexGV and welcome to the planet.

i have at least 4-8 kits on my desk on all day but i ALWAYS turn off overnight.
seen quite a few fire reports over the years where mods have decided to auto fire overnight so just not worth that risk.

I woke up one morning to a hissing sound. The Wismec NC Luxotic Mod on my bedside table was autofiring. When I picked it up it was uncomfortably warm.

I pulled the batteries and took it outdoors. When I put the batteries back in it started auto-firing again - AND THE 10 SECOND CUT OFF DID NOT ACTIVATE - it continued firing until I pulled the batteries.

I stripped it to have a look (although I know nothing about circuitry) and could see nothing obvious like damaged/burnt components, but juice had got inside the mod and the circuit board was soaked in juice. I checked the batteries and they were fine, although they were in a suspiciously low state of charge (I think they were almost fully charged the night before but I couldn't be 100% sure - but they did feel hot when I pulled them from the mod.

I threw the mod, and after the auto firing experience I've got into the habit of turning mods off.

In over 5 years it has only happened to me once, but it was something that was bloody unsettling - personally I recommend you turn them off whenever you aren't using them or put one in your pocket.

I turn everything off when not it use. Vape or anything.

I always turn off any mod that’s not being used. But, afaik, you can’t turn off a (SXK) DNA60 BB as such? However, it does appear to “power down” after a period, but hitting the fire button brings it back to life.

I unscrew the atomisers enough so it can't read the resistance on my DNA mods at night - if it can't contact the positive pin, it has no way of sending power to the atty (and if I'm probably not going to be using it for a while I pull the batteries). After my auto-fire incident I don't trust any mod that is in eternal standby mode. Evolv may have a good reputation but they won't buy me somewhere to live if one of their mods torches my house.

If a mod doesn't have an off setting off then for external batteries I just loosen the battery cap.
