Is Nic best frozen in PG or VG

I have 500ml of VG nic in the freezer - can't comment on how successful that process is, as I've not used any of that batch.

I've used my pg nic from the freezer and its good to go straight away albeit slightly thicker.
There is a thread on here somewhere about how nic in pg can last for up to 10 years and that VG has a much lesser lifespan. I don't know the URL but is was pretty scientific.

Sent from somewhere just south on our nations capital.

My nicotine lives in the freezer (according to the temp gauge -19C), I simply take it out about half an hour before I'm going to use as it becomes more viscous when frozen.

Technically PG can act as an anti-freeze, it's used in foods like ice cream and sorbets so that you don't get a solid lump of ingredients :)

Not scientific fact, granted, but I am using PG Nic Base brought back to room temperature after over a year in the freezer and it's as good as the day it was bought - no discolouration, taste or smell. Most importantly, there is no drop in strength (tested after it warmed back up). When I get to the end of the other 5 litres, I'll report back :D

Dexter seeing as there seems to be no scientific fact on the subject i will happily take your first-hand account as the next best thing and order a litre of PG based nic.

Thanks to everyone for your replies/information.

Ha ha Dirty Dog - I certainly hope it keeps long term, or my doomsday planning has been derailed :D

There is lots if anecdotal evidence regarding long term storage of base juice in the freezer, so I've opted to follow the crowd, as it were. :2thumbsup:

Dunno about which to freeze pal, but leave room. Freezed liquid expands you could blow the bottle and have PG or VG all over food

This is not the case with either PG or VG. There is no expansion of PG when frozen at all, if anything it contracts slightly.
Water is almost unique in expanding when frozen.

I have both PG and VG nic in the freezer in 250ml Brown glass bottles with no more than 2-3mm of headspace and no issues with leakage/expansion etc.
I bring it out of the freezer and leave it approx 8 hours to come up to room temp to avoid introducing water to the mix.

Air and sunlight are the biggest damaging factors when it comes to storing Nic base so keep it dark and cold with as little air in the bottle as possible.
Neither PG or VG will actually "freeze" in a domestic freezer as the temp just does not go low enough for this to happen.

PG will get thicker but will remain noticeably liquid at freezer temps, VG will get VERY thick and gloopy but, again, will not freeze solid in a domestic freezer.

In answer to the OP, PG has a longer overall shelf life than VG under ideal conditions.
I fully expect my PG Nic to be perfectly usable for well over a decade, possibly indefinitely if stored correctly.
