Is that a mod in your hand???

@vapesmarter have you had a look about the coffee forums? as @RAPTOREX says, classic fans also would be interested in steam knobs as well as PF handles. a matching set. classics and modding them are a bit of a niche thing for coffee fans who can’t afford or aren’t inclined to spend fortunes on fancy coffee machines. i think there’s a bit of hype that surrounds them.

Also. If you’re going to do Classic items. The OEM portafilter, has a completely different attachment system. It’s a bayonet held in by a screw accessed through the handle.

I agree ^^

They're bloody lovely and I would def go for them, if I were a coffee fanatic. As it is, I'm addicted to my low end bean 2 cup jobby.

bless you all, some lovely comments

yes I'm a member of some arsebook groups and some forums

the biggest problem I have is you have to start from scratch tooling wise that's not a problem, but sales-wise its a huge headache after almost 8 years of making mods vapesmarter is known far and wide with mods all over the globe it has taken the time and 1000's well ok tens of thousands of pounds in investment machines etc but in the coffee world its a start again the first thing is any customer thinks he's dealing with some fly by night shitster that will be gone next week

I have a vapesmarter website with a shop (although I still need the stock and time to get it up and running, I also have an ebay shop (hateful and last resort) plus an etsy shop (which is mothballed) both the ebay and etsy shops I hate as it is just not the image I want.

the naked portafilters I have here comes to 5 after I have made them up, the original portafilter by Gaggia I've never been keen on I have several all are a bit naff they are functional but pretty awful in design from the factory.

the WDT is a strange thing I have been using them for years I like long needles some people like short either is good do they work the jury is still out in the coffee world for me i can see the difference in the creme and taste but it depends on the coffee the grind if you use a cup attachment on the filter scales weight etc etc . the list is endless but the world of coffee takes some getting into in regards standing I don't need to prove myself in mods as I've made everything so you have that standing but coffee, I'm in the early learning class in regards sales and reputation.

experience wise I have more knowledge in coffee machines than mods 35 years worth (that is odd) I've had loads from la Pavoni to Jura's with loads of Gaggia's I've even named a couple of mods after rare makes I've owned rebuilt and sold on

it's sad that I'm doing this to turn a coin but the mod market is really getting pretty shite and you have to keep going. if I don't, I have to file for bankruptcy and close down it is that simple my accountant said to me the other day but I'm lucky vapesmarter is only a trading name, not my company name so I can switch what I make so at least that is not a headache.

good luck with it, i think it can potentially be a goer if you find the right way to establish yourself, and there’s maybe a more stable and consistent audience with the coffee enthusiasts.

Whilst the logistical and sales side will require a lot of work. I still think you have this market, to yourself. I’ve not seen any Starwood offered for the coffee/ espresso market.

I’d suggest CoffeeSmart as branding. This would maintain the connection with your current business. But also give separation.

I think, potentially, it could be quite lucrative.
and, personally, I’d love to see your excellent products, start to grace many peoples coffee stations.

I have already name dropped you elsewhere Stu and there was a tiny bit of interest, but, the Coffee world is a strange place as you more than know :)

I'd say be completely honest with the new coffee customers and show off some of your mod work /website / YouTube etc and explain the market has slowed down so you're looking to other things, this at least would show them you are not some fly by night shitster that will be gone next week, if they see the finished articles work and finishes they are more than likely trust alot more, probably sell a couple and word of mouth, photos and shinyitus goes round the coffee community forums etc and you may see the orders start rolling in, good luck whichever route you take [emoji106]
