KFL not Firing

Hi all

I took apart my KFL to give it a clean during which I took out the centre screw pin at the base. Now when I wick it, it fires OK on a Riva but not on my Sigelei Mod or the Kmax. It did fire once when I loosened it on the Kmaz but i'm getting either 'low load' or 'short' show up on the display.

whathaveidone? :hmm:

Ooooh......According to the user manual one of the insulators (1i or 1k) is damaged. The centre pin/screw thingy is one of those I think, but how have I damaged it? All I did was unscrew it, wipe it and screw it back in again.

EDIT: OK I just unscrewed it again, blew it through, dried it off as it was ever so slightly moist and reassembled it. It fired OK briefly, the coil glowed and then a second press of the fire button gave the 'low load' message again......

Tis a most perplexing conundrum.

If you unscrewed the center pin from the botton of the atty, you may need to reposition the positive screw where you build the coil. The screw on the bottom holds the base of the positive screw inside the atty. You need to take the kayfun apart as if you are going to recoil it, the loosen the center screw underneeth the atty and make sure the positive base in correctly positioned as you tighten the center screw back up.
Hope this made sence ?

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I unscrewed it and made sure the top bit was flush with the plastic insulating plate. At first it said 'low load' again but a quick fiddle with loosening the bottom screw and moving the plate slightly and it fired again OK, but the resistance is all over the place, just now 1.5ohms, then 1.8, then 3ohms, 6.6 then 9.9ohms at which point it won't fire. Then after a few seconds it fires again but again fluctuates up and down. I haven't filled the tank just dripped a few drops directly onto the wick.

I'm using 2mm silica and 0.25 wire, 4 wraps.

EDIT: And now its stuck on 9.9ohms and not firing again!

Maybe try a recoil, and make sure there is no damage to the insulator plate ?

I've tried recoiling twice and the insulator plate looks fine to me. Not that i'd know, but it looks clean, unblemished and flush. I'm going to take it apart again, rewick it one more time and see what happens!
