The Kumiho Thoth G Pod Kit

https://www.healthcabin.net/kumiho-thoth-g-pod-system-kit-p/29829.html

I’ve had a shot on the Thoth T and S previously and enjoyed the vape from them, as well as the military radio styling. This time Kumiho have gone for a more traditional style. Gone is the fidget spinner, the boxy design and the square shape. This time it’s more of a pen style vape, but with the same punch to it as the previous ones I’ve tried.

The Thoth G has a 900mAh internal battery and takes 2ml Thoth pods. All of the Thoth branded pods will fit in this, which is handy as I still have some left from the last review. The draw is auto and button activated and the whole thing goes up to 35w. There’s an airflow adjustment slider for MTL or RDL and the USB Type C port is on one of the sides, which is always a bonus so you can charge it standing up.

In the box you get:

1 Kumiho Thoth G Device
1 Thoth Series Pod, 0.6ohm
1 User Manual

Sparse but that’s the way of a lot of devices these days.

Style wise, as I’ve said, it’s more of a pen style device this time around. I got sent a snazzy purple one and I do like it. On the front you have the screen, it’s a small 0.42” OLED black and white screen, but you don’t need bells and whistles on everything, as long as it vapes ok. There’s Thoth Branding above the screen and below it is an angled button that sticks out a wee bit and clicks nicely. Underneath the button, my one has a plastic panel with a carbon fiber design on it. On the back there’s some inscribed Kumiho branding at the bottom of the brushed metal casing, it’s nice and simple. On one side is the airflow control and the other is the USB Type C port.

Function wise it’s also a bit sparse but as I keep saying, it’s about the vape and I’ll get onto that in a bit. There’s a smart setting in there as the 0.6 pod will only go from 20-25w. I hate being told what to do. I do. But that’s just me and it’s minor. You can change the wattage by clicking 3 times on the fire button when the device is on, then clicking again to up the wattage. Five clicks give you a little menu, where you can clear the puff count, lock the device and turn it off. So, you’ll need to remember that clicking 5 times won’t just switch it off.

But (I’ve said it so many times already) it’s all about the vape. And the vape is decent. Of course, you only get the 0.6 pod in the package and that’s where I started. Even though the kit uses the same Thoth series pods as the T and the S, for some reason there wasn’t as much break in time on this one as others I’ve tried. The flavour came through right away for me and the vapour production was good as well. With the airflow fully open you get a nicely restricted lung hit and moving the slider lets you increase the tightness well. I also really enjoyed the MTL draw with fully open airflow. Fully closed you get a proper tight draw, much better than a lot of other pod devices out there and while it’s not my thing I know there are others around that like it that way.

I cracked open a spare 0.8ohm pod that I had lying around and again it was a nice draw. The flavour took a wee bit longer to come through so I’m wondering if they’ve changed something in the pods recently as it has been a good few months since I had the Thoth S. Still, it was a good vape and I do like the Thoth pods, they give good flavour, and the vapour production is also very good.

Overall, for the price, the Thoth G is a great wee starter device that does do what it’s made for very well. The Thoth pods are good, they last well, taste good and I’ve had no gurgling or leaking from them at all over the 3 devices I’ve tried now.

One thing did go wrong for me though. I had the kit in a reasonably tight pocket, and it fired away due to the fire button protruding a touch, meaning the coil burnt out on me and made me have to switch to another one sooner than I would have liked. It’s mainly my fault for wearing tight jeans but I would recommend that you lock the device before putting it in pockets, that’s kind of the reason for having a lock button after all.

Thanks again to Healthcabin for letting me try this kit out. You can buy it cheaply on their site and, as always, if you make an account the prices are even better.
