I don't really want to be chopping the mod itself, but I had an idea to take a mm or so off the neck of the bottle so that the bottom of it ends up a bit higher. Obviously I would need a little packing on the cover that goes under the bottle. Do you think this would work?

Problem is the bar has side holes to draw the liquid so you will always be left with the juice that sits bellow the top of the holes. As soon.as air ingress happens the liquid draw up stops. You may pull a half a ml more up but you will still be left with the same issue unfortunately.
