evening folks,

wanting to have a go at DIY mixing so ive been doing some research but struggling to find a good answer so hoping someone can share some knowledge with me.

Firstly I prefer a higher VG when buying my liquids currently so to make my own liquid do i need to add PG in the mix or can i use solely VG?? Will this have any effect on my liquids?

Also flavours now first one I want to try and make is a nice creamy vanilla. If i was to use Capella's Vanilla Bean Ice Cream flavouring would I need to add a sweetner or anything to help with the flavour? Its a bloody minefield of things to get my head around at first.

Cheers in advance.

How high vg do you want ?
To keep it high you could use vg based nicotine but most (but not all ) flavour concentrates are pg based.

i normally buy 80/20 mix is preffered minimum. i had read that and dont mind some pg. Just wondered if i can get away with buying only VG as a base.

If you use vg nicotine and have up to 20% pg flavouring then you'll be about right then. It will be quite thick though . I've heard some people thin with various liquids but haven't any experience with that because my maximum mixes are 70/30
I'm sure someone will be able to set you straight though soon.

I would always go for nic in PG. All the problems I've heard about regarding nic have been with VG based.

You probably wont need to use any PG. Mixing at 3mg PG based nic and 15% flavouring will give you around 80VG so it's unlikely you'll need any PG.

That Vanilla Bean Ice Cream is damned finest kind stuff!!

Last time I had some I made it with VG nic, so with 10% flavouring and the rest VG or VG nic it came to 90/10.
After a couple of weeks in the cupboard the 1st 30ml lasted one afternoon.....
Then Vapable ran out of stock
And I cried.

Back on point, if you want it as thick as that then get VG nic, if you want it thinner then go with PG nic.
You can dilute VG with either 2-3% good quality vodka or 4-5% distilled ( NOT de-ionised!!!!!) water.
Or get that PG stuff.

what issues with VG nic?? ive never read anything. cheers again
VG nic is more prone to nic hotspots so you'll have to give it a really good shake before using it. Also if you're storing in the freezer you'll need to let it warm up to be a little less viscous, PG based nic is pretty much good to go straight out the freezer.

Your recipes are going to range in flavour percentages so as long as you dont want a constant vg/pg ratio then you wont need any PG if you want everything you make to be 80/20 then you'll need to get some PG. As for the sucralose I'd probably give it a miss, it will gunk your coils up quicker with it in. If you feel you need it to be sweeter you can always use it as an excuse to get another concentrates order in!
