Hey gents,
I'm currently a cigarette smoker. I have been looking into vaping devices, but haven't bought one yet. There have been some troubling health stories here in the US. The issues seem to be related to off-brand unregulated pods, but details are pretty sketchy.

I was reading on reddit that it's possible to vape loose leaf tobacco. I think I'd prefer to do that than use any of the liquids. Does anyone have experience with that that can recommend a device? I'm primarily interested in nicotine without buring and high device manufacturing quality. Factors like the amount of vapor, and the look/design of the device aren't very important.
Thanks in advance

The closest sort of device I can think of is the "vaporisors" designed for weed. You could likely just wang baccy in there instead.

Or, there's the "heat not burn" things coming out.

Neither have much or any following or mention that I've seen on here, and certainly nothing positive.

Nice article, yeah that seems to debunk the concerns about the recent vaping news reports. I have another concern though. What about the long term health effects of vaping? I haven't seen any research on that. I should also mention that I'm not looking to cease use of nicotine altogether, which may make me an unusual use case. I'm looking to safely consume small amounts of nicotine over a period of many years. I have a theory that when consumed wisely in small doses that humans can reap the benefits of nicotine with negligible health risk.

Any info on the heat not burn devices coming out? I keep hearing that the major cig manufacturers are working on this, but I haven't seen anything on the market.

It's not been around long enough to show long-term effects, but smoking long-term will most probably kill you. I've not heard much about HnB other than it's not as safe as vaping but certainly not as bad as smoking.

From the info I gave seen here in Oz, those issues involved vaping black market dodgy liquids containg dodgy oils. Its not vaping that was the problem it was the substance. So they beat up on vaping for it. It would be the same people buying and drinking a scotch n coke that had some wierd dangerous substance added to it. Then everyone blaming drinking alcohol for the person getting sick and hospitalised. Then screaming out for bans on Scotch and coke.
There is this snippet of info on what you may be thinking about.

The bottom line is the long term effects of vaping are negligible compared to those of smoking tobacco. That doesn't need to be proven over decades, it's common sense. Vaping doesn't introduce tar, carbon monoxide, cyanide, formaldehyde, arsenic or the literally thousands of other chemicals released as standard when tobacco is burned.

The heat not burn device is the iQos. Personally, I would advise staying away from tobacco all together and would instead recommend vaping as the healthier alternative.

Don't buy dodgy black market products or products containing THC and/or other drugs and stick to juice with nicotine from known and reputable eliquid manufacturers and you will be just fine.
